I was thinking of moving my landline over to Snap VoIP to save the $10 per month charge but I see that it is now the same price on the Snap Webpage. Is VoIP now the same price as a landline?
Tried to call twice today but phone dropped out after 15 mins on hold one way and 12 mins the other so gave up!
Can anyone confirm or deny the price change?

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Yes it is. The difference is that you get caller ID etc on the VOIP which are extra on the POTS line. I'm using the VOIP service and its fine, but I now have the other stuff which would have cost me around $12 a month extra.

Theres some other cool extras you get on VOIP too, many of these are listed.
One that isn't listed is the system unofficially supports up to 5 incoming/outgoing calls. So you can be on one line and receive or make a call on the other. The line thats already going will get a blip for call waiting too. Very handy.

how do you set this up? exactly the same details as FON1 for FON2?

You're right, pricing is now the same at $95/m for VDSL plus POTS line, or VDSL with Snap Plus (our voice service delivered over broadband).

As Benoire and eXDee have already pointed out, the Snap Plus service comes standard with voicemail, caller ID, and call waiting, which would cost an extra $14/m on a copper POTS service.

We'll also be launching some really cool self-service functionality with our Snap Plus services soon - stay tuned!

Thanks for the replies, as I only have a use for CallerID I think I will stick as I am for now however if something more compelling appears I'll consider it again.

Never really tested but I can add his statement is true, i was able to make a call on the Fritz Fon Android app while making another out going calling on FON1.
Making 5 calls at a time sounds like you would need DECT phones set up...

FON1 and FON2 supply two analogue devices. So thats two. Additional can come from the ISDN port, DECT or VOIP.

Tip: If you want an additional DECT handset, avoid uniden. Go for panasonic ones. Their handsets seem more durable too.

My unidens are causing me now end of trouble, going to upgrade to the Fritz!fon when I get some spare cash so all the mobiles and main phone can connect to the answermachine inside the fritzbox.

Would keeping the analog line and adding the voip line be possible for a small extra charge rather than piling the services onto the analog line like voicemail, caller id, etc?
