Seems to be issues with Orcon's authentication server but they have been down since ~12!

Anyone experiencing issues? They updated their website at 1:53 and haven't heard anything since.

Was on the phone for over 40 minutes before giving up waiting.

Anyone have an update? Bit ridiculous really!

Thanks

(Mod edit - changed title now that we know what the problem is)

Problems seem to be with their authentication servers, hope you don't get disconnected else you might have issues authenticating again.

I had to reboot and have not been able to reconnect since ~ 12! Grr!

Bugger :(

On a long weekend too they probably only have the out sourced call centre on the help desk! Hope you get it sorted.

Yup, annoying part is that they updated their website 2 hours after and there has been no update since.

I tried the call centre and was on hold for ~ 40 minutes and just gave up. Then again, it's not like they could do much for me.

Before Orcon acknowledged the issue, I even tried my backup router and reset and rebooted a million times :)

Oh well, lots of waiting then!

I'm out of town but my connection seems fine as I can remote into my server at home. Hopefully I don't have a power cut in the near future :)

I'm in Tauranga and it went down earlier today for a quarter hour. Also got a bit laggy/slow for a quarter hour recently for me.

Wow, onto day 2 now, still no internet for those with Orcon in Wellington, no further information either!

Helpdesk: Yea there is an issue, no update, no ETA, his response, "we told them"

This is just ridiculous! #fail

Just rang them again, latest update:

They are aware of the issue and are still working on fixing it, and are "hoping" to have this resolved by "today".

Seriously?, must be a pretty serious issue!

Apparently I was one of the first to log this problem yesterday so had to do the whole reset router thing, but is issue on their end. Still down in Wellington city/ Te Aro area for me. Was 15 min wait yesterday so imagine it is worse now. They took my number to update me but nada so far. Network status hasn't been updated since 2pm yesterday on this website. Chorus guys been doing a heap of work in my area lately but probably just a coincidence.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the denial of service attacks on their DNS servers recently. Has Orcon been targeted by someone or a group of someones?

The tin-hat-wearer in me is going crazy with the possibilities :)

No problem here, Taranaki Street.
We had been having speed issues so a technician came out this morning to fix it (turned out be at the cabinet) but it was working fine before that as well.

This has now made the DomPost here: http://i.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/9332428/Orcon-internet-outage-in-Wellington

Still nothing official from Orcon apart from one message posted yesterday!

As you can tell by my post appearing here, my Orcon connection (Northern Suburbs) is fine.
