That was quick, thanks!

  • Future changes?
  • Planned upgrades?
  • New plans coming out?
  • Is the call center now local and not offshore?
  • Can i have more than one static ip on the line?
  • Any other useful information
  • Do i still need to signup to a 12month contract, the excuse i get form sales is that its because of chorus.... funny tho because iv had the fibre line installed over 2 years ago.

I am network focused here at orcon, so can't really comment on the Future changes to plans etc.

Network wise we are doing some very cool things, and hopefully i can comment about those soon.

network wise, we have our own international network, with sites in Sydney and San Jose and expanding fast to other regions.

Call Center is offshore with no plans to bring this back currently. We still have a strong NZ team which does the Tier2/Tier3 side.

Static IP's are not available on Unlimited plans currently. We only offer static ip's to the Capped plans and the Business plans.

Thanks, any idea when you can comment on them...got a future potential customer on hand here :)
Any idea when orcon will be implementing static ip's on home fibre?

Hi all,
Chorus is proposing a range of new plans that kick in Jan 1.
Assuming they all go ahead, we'll be offering them in Jan. We are still waiting on the other LFCs to confirm if they will match.
The proposed plans from Chorus include a 50/20 base plan, and then 100 and 200Mbps download options, with a variety of upload options.
Not sure when we'll announce specifics - but we def will have a range of new plans in 2014. They are all better value too, so I think people will be happy.
Cheers.

Get the install rolling, and then upgrade to one of the new plans ...

Cheers

lol sneaky sales moves.Very keen tho as i will be saving $130/pm from my current provider.

Just curious tho, when  i spoke to sale a few months ago i HAD to sign up to a contract of 24/12months which they said it was compulsory due to Chorus's investment with the line installation.
my reply was " the fibre line has already been there for over 2 years, therefore chorus's investment is done and paid off. Do i still need to go on a contract " ..

orcon sales replied " Yes ".

Didnt and still doesnt make sense to me.

2 things here.

You might have fibre into the building, but it will depend if its the right fibre and where it goes to. If its UFB fibre and goes to one of the cabinets in the street, then game on.
if not, then they will have to install new fibre for the UFB services.

Chorus charge us an install fee regardless of if there if UFB fibre in the premise already. Even if its just a logical change on the ONT....So we need to recover that, which is why there is a contract.

Fibre is directly into the house and connect to the cabinet down the road.
This was a new development which started the whole "trial" and was forced to use xnet.
From what i understand is the fee is $200. Id be more than happy to cover that off myself as i have one previously with Voyager.
