Unlimited VDSL unleashed on Kiwi businesses

From today, CallPlus launches Unlimited VDSL to small and medium sized New Zealand businesses, offering faster uncapped internet from as little as $99+gst a month.

Providing up to three times the download speed and five to ten times the upload speed of standard broadband, VDSL when combined with unlimited data will enable New Zealand businesses to better manage costs while increasing productivity.

“In a recent survey we commissioned, Kiwi businesses told us that they believe the speed of their internet connection is having an impact on their productivity. More than 70 per cent of businesses want access to faster internet, and they don’t want to wait.

“Many companies are waiting for the Government-driven ultra-fast broadband (UFB) to arrive in their area, but the reality is some of them may be waiting for quite a while yet. This is where VDSL – the fastest type of copper broadband – comes in,” says Kelvin Hussey, General Manager, CallPlus Business Solutions.

Available in 60 per cent of the places ADSL broadband currently is, VDSL offers speeds similar to some of the entry level UFB plans in the market.  CallPlus’ research also revealed that while many businesses want faster internet they still haven’t worked out the full benefits that UFB will bring.

“VDSL offers business the means to bridge the gap until UFB is fully deployed and is an easy upgrade from their current connection. It also gets businesses ahead of the UFB learning curve, letting them take advantage of higher speed connectivity now.

“Our survey also tells us that eight out of ten New Zealand businesses don’t think they are getting value for money with their current provider, yet changing just seems too daunting or they have not considered the options.

“Our new VDSL offering was designed with all of these factors in mind and is simple to connect as it uses existing copper in most cases. Best of all, it’s fast and cost effective,” says Hussey.

CallPlus says businesses need to consider the benefits of VDSL over the alternatives in the market especially when so many companies are transitioning to, or considering cloud based solutions, which rely on fast, unlimited connections for optimum performance.

Unlimited VDSL Small Office Bundles with VDSL broadband speeds up to 50 Mbps download and up to 10 Mbps upload are also on offer, ranging from $119+gst a month with one business phone line to $254+gst a month for four phone lines.

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

 



 

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.
