Just came off the phone with a CSR and I'm now in line for some good discoubnt for the next 12 months embarassed

I had  look at their current promotion and noticed that nowhere in their T&T it mentioned "new connection" or "new custormer". So I gave 2degrees a call and asked. At first they said it was for new customers only but after I insisted that that was not mentioned anywhere in their T&T he went and checked that out for me and BINGO!

If course you have to sign up to a 24 month term but if you are like me and have no intention of changing anyway, you can really get yourself a good bargain. The good thing is if you are on a pay monthly plan with them as well, you still get the $10 off which then makes it only $49/month for unlimited broadband up to 100/20 UFB. Good on ya, 2degrees!

You'd have to do the sums I guess and see whether you came out ahead over the two year period.

I.e. ($49x12)+($95x12)=($588)+($1140)=$1728 - would that be more or less than you might spend with another provider?

The way I see it, I have no intention to switch provider so I'm currently just paying my 95/month so this gives me a discount of 36/month for 12 month, then I'm back to normal. Even if I would break contract after a year and pay the $249 exit fee, I still would be better off.

Had Spark knock on the door yesterday offering their $109.99 unlimited 100/20 plan with local calls for $79.99 on new 12-month contract.

It would suck if the going rate is $75 in a years time though ($85 unlimited with homeline is easily achievable now), but if your happy then all good.

Good on you jumping on board this great deal! Sorry for any confusion caused with the agent you spoke with but just to confirm this is open to new and existing customers.

Just to confirm Pay Monthly mobile customer will also get an extra $10 off the monthly rental charges so the $59 and $95 plan charges are reduced to $49 and $85 (after the first 12 months).

Here's the T & Cs - https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/termsofuse/broadband/promotions/unlimited-broadband-plan-promotion/ and copied here for convenience (Last updated: 11 MAY 2016)

"1. These terms and conditions apply in addition to our Broadband Terms and Conditions, Broadband Plan Terms and Conditions, and any other specific terms and conditions applying to your Plan or Account with 2degrees.   2. If you sign up to a 2degrees Unlimited Broadband Plan on a 24 term between 12 May 2016 and 6 June 2016 (Promotion Period), you will be eligible to receive a $36 credit on your monthly Plan charge for the first 12 months of your Plan term (Plan Credit), so  your monthly Plan charge will be:

(a) $59 per month for the first 12 months of your Plan term; and

(b) $95 per month for second 12 months of your Plan term.

3. An early termination charge of $249 applies if you leave or move from the Unlimited Broadband Plan before the end of the term.

4. Your Plan Credit cannot be redeemed for cash, hardware or any other benefit, or applied to pay early termination charges or other Charges, and cannot be transferred or assigned.

5. This offer is not available in conjunction with any other offer.

6. We reserve the right to extend, change or terminate these terms and conditions and/or this offer at any time without notice.

7. You are deemed to have accepted these conditions when you take the steps set out in clause 2 above."

Cheers!

So if 2D decreases the cost of unlimited internet 12 months later, does that mean those who sign up to this special deal today would still continue to pay $95?

yes. that's what the contract terms pasted above very clearly say.  It's using very low headline pricing to get you to sign up ('bait'), but essentially it's the same as paying $77/m for 24 months.

that's still a pretty decent price, but not that great compared with what you can get elsewhere, especially considering the 24 month contract is a really really long.

Am I missing something here - the monthly cost for the first 12 months is $59. As opposed to $95 per month. So $30 difference. $30 over the 12 months = $360 saving over the first 12 months. So as OP mentioned even if after that first 12 months you decide to break out (costing $249) you are still $111 on the win. Thats not including the $10 discount you get each month from pay monthly.

Seems like a no brainer - but tbh I just can't be arsed lol :| #Lazy

Interesting - they get free Lightbox too don't they?

Makes it an attractive deal if it does. I know we get a 6 month trial of Neon (which I have signed up for) but the Neon app is notoriously buggy and people I know seem to rave about Lightbox.

I applied for UFB in November last year and have had troubles trying to get it...I don't get updates and always have to call the support line and each call seems to take at least a quarter of an hour. Latest is that Chorus are supposed to contact me but that was weeks ago. Am losing faith.

I just signed up for unlimited on my VDSL 2Degrees account (as I kept going over my allocation and was sick of having to pay extra). Was not told of any contract so assume I am not locked in (but probably am).

$79.99 is a lot better than $115!

I'm currently with 2D for broadband and have been looking for a new provider.

I was looking at Bigpipe but this offer may entice me to stay with 2D, although I'm a bit put off by the contract term.

I considered transferring my Spark number to 2D to get the $10 discount, but my cellphone bill would be $10 dearer than my $19 prepay so there is no point.

Decisions decisions.....

Not a fan 2degrees of this reduced price for the first year then up the price for the second year, seems like dodgy dealings I'd expect from lesser ISPs.

If it's familiar, it's straight out of Trustpowers book. And it must work too, Trustpower picked up a lot of customers very quickly. At least they have made it very clear how it works.

I am currently on 2degree fibre (transferred from snap) 100/20 plan including voip phone $95.95 per month

Saw this deal on geekzone thought I should apply as no plan to move away anyway, been great and reliable thus far

however, this is the email I got from 2degree support:

Hi XXXXX:

Please be aware that you will be on a 24 month Term with this new connection/plan change and that your Home Phone will be an additional cost of $15 per month.  this would be a total of:-

$59 + $15 =$74 per month for the first 12 months then $110 there after. If you choose to leave 2degrees altogether within this period you will be charged a Early Termination Fee of $249.00.

If You wish to continue with this change you will need to call the Contact Centre on 0800 022 022 and speak to a Customer Care Agent so that they can process this request as this is not possible over Email.

Thank you for getting in touch with us. We hope we assisted you with your query today.

Kind regards,

so it seems to me this is not worth getting at all, at least not for me (not having a 2 degree mobile plan) anyways.......
