Hi

I was advised that 2 Degrees had a product as outlined in title, i.e. if you were in an area where you had terrible mobile coverage, if your phone was connected to internet via other means it would route the mobile call via VOIP to your mobile phone.

I cant seem to find details on their website, about this service though, anyone know anything about it?

Thanks

I was using it from Turkey last week, variously from hotel Wifi and hotspot on my iPad with a local Turkcell SIM in it.

The intention is to fix that when we launch VoLTE. It's hard to handover from VoWifi to circuit switched cellular, but handing over from VoWifi to VoLTE is a specifically supported case.

wifi calling doesnt work the best if you dont have 2d signal in your area but do have vf roaming on 2d.

If Wifi Calling is enabled, it will always be used in preference to cellular.

Except there are two differences; if you have a supported handset already you don't need to buy anything to use 2degrees Wifi Calling, and also Wifi Calling can be used anywhere in the world.

Are you running a custom Android ROM or something? Using Wifi Calling over cellular is an operator setting.

With my iPhone at my parents place (which roams to Vodafone) I can make a call using WiFi calling absolutely no problems. Agreed however regarding handover back to the cell network - really would love to see this resolved as I always fall into this trap at home.

VoLTE will see handover sorted but when will NZ see 4G calling @saltyNZ

Nope. Native mate 20 pro.

Also able to replicate on a s8 and s9. All stock firmware non rooted. (Samsung devices are both off the shop floor in 2d.)

Soon as I go flight mode so it doesn't see the vf roaming its happy to activate WiFi calling.
