Following a network problem, 2D sent me a new Orbi router to replace a Fritz!Box 7530 which 'isn't the best router for a fibre only connection' apparently.

  1. Should I switch to the Orbi, or keep the Fritz!box?
  2. Would the Orbi, located in the top of the house, with Orbi mesh repeaters added, work better for me than the existing Fritz!Box with wired connections to other APs (in this case APs consisting of an Asus Ac35, a TP-Link N3600, and -- don't laugh - a Linksys Wrt54G

You can connect the orbi's via a wired connection too. Wired will always beat mesh.

Thanks. I figured that would work. But wasn't sure from other comments here whether having an all-Orbi mesh (wired or not) would be easier to manage and work better than the the mongrel configuration.
