Sorry if this has been asked before

2 degrees appear to have erected a lot of towers recently, however looking at their website the 3G coverage looks to be confined to the major centres.

What is the coverage like outside of the main centres?  We are looking at using them and reliable 3G data is important.

Outside of the the areas shown on their coverage maps they use Vodafone's network (via roaming agreement.)

There are numerous cities/towns currently having towers built in them, other threads on Geekzone reveal these as do the maps bartender has produced http://www.geekzone.co.nz/BarTender/7403 showing where licences have been obtained.

Last time I spoke to 2d they said you only get 2g speeds for data on vodafone's 3g network when roaming. I could be wrong but that's what I was told.

This was the case when 2d launched and before they launched their 3G offering. Hasn't been the case for a long time now.

Go on their $59 plan and get 1GB national 3G :o) It takes a wile to get a 3G network optimised once the towers are up, but as you can see above from the link; there are a lot more towers going in.

I would love to see towers all the way from Wellington - Auckland :D

JFYI 1GB is only available on the $129 and $149 plans from the 3rd Oct.

Re 2G only - when we launched it was 2G only, but 3G is now available outside our 'canopy' on our roaming partners network.
