Currently getting severely degraded performance when outside of Orcon's network.
Doesn't matter what it is.

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

 


 

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

 


 

- Your general location (or street)

 


 

- If you are rural or urban

 


 

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

 


 

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

 


 

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

 



 

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

 



 

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Loss of service at 3:26AM. Displaying exact same symptons previously.

Service restored when router rebooting. It also did the same thing 10 days ago and it's uptime is now becoming shorter. I think I may need to get it replaced and sent away.

There was some work undertaken at around 3am which would probably explain your loss of service and a need to reboot to restore service.  Don't blame your router just yet :)

See how you go this evening, if you're still having trouble, post back in the thread with some details and we'll take a look.

Just a note on doing traceroutes across the big bad Internet: service provider routers typically set a very low priority on responding to ICMP (ping) requests, so it is perfectly normal to see high pings (and even non response) on intermediate hops.  It's really the last hop which matters and in your traceroute there it's about 50ms - depending where that host is, that may be just fine.

We're on Orcon UFB too and I'm seeing pretty poor speeds outside of Orcon's network too.

Yeah can confirm it's also very erratic again.

Normally I'm as low as 30MS to that Sydney server



also the bottom speedtest was outside of Orcon's Network at 2:50PM.

Is this a congestion issue?

And now actual speed took a dive

I will take this up with the networks team and see if we can figure out what's happening.

Can you both PM me with your orcon usernames?  Then we can figure out the network path your traffic is taking.

Yep it picked up again around 9:30 PM. Aussie + NA game traffic is bad.

Only down to traffic outside of Orcon's network.

Speeds don't remain affected but response times are messed up badly.

It's back at it again. Pings have once again doubled. Game traffic is bad.

have you called and logged a fault

they have no written record, or history if you dont do that so it makes it hard to fix, if you dont know there is an issue
