Having downloaded the beta I have loaded Freeview HD into Windows 7 Media Center.

All is working great and has been completely stable! Enjoying it!!

The question I have is has anyone had any success getting the EPG going in Windows 7 Media Center?

Any help appreciated.

I have looked at the Reven site and seen the Vista instructions, but was hoping someone could share their experiences with me.

There is currently no way to load 3rd party EPG's into Windows7.

The only way to get an EPG is to use a DVB-S source for the DVB EPG and map the channels.

8 days. Same as MHEG5 EPG.

What's interesting is that MCE tells me that MHEG plugin failed to load or crashed, so hopefully MHEG5 implementation in the future?

I was told quite a few months ago by a good source that it was doubtful Microsoft would ever include specific support for NZ's MHEG5 middleware and that if there was to be an EPG source it would be a download.

it will be interesting to see what does happen. Afterall access the MHEG5 EPG is free but as it stands now TV companies seem to regard their program guides as top secret highly classified for our eyes only material - unless you're willing to pay big $$ to get access like the newspapers and TV guide do.

I jut fail to see why the success relies of a TV network relies on viewers. If viewers don't know what's actually on then they can't watch TV! Since I built my PVR and had a full EPG I've watched more TV than I used to before, simply because I can easily schedule shows, particularly those that are on at whierd times and watch them when I want.

So how have Elgato addressed this? I see a full EPG on the DTT service via EyeTV 3? Surely if Elgato can Microsoft can.

Looking at it again, not quite a full 7 days, it appears the times are there but no show descriptions. But it is a little more than now and next.. odd..

You're just picking up the standard EVB EPG. This has always been broadcast. Over DVB-S this contains 8 days and on DVB-T originally contained now + next shows but I believe this was changed to now + next + 3? following shows to support the Zinwell DVR.

I thought Windows Media Center didn't support the NZ's DVB-T audio codec. Has Windows 7 changed this?

From what I understand Windows 7 now supports H.264 video codec natively and also supports AAC natively.

just go to windows.com/windows7 and you can downlad the beta. It's freely available until 24th January

yes you need a key, but it will be provided when you register for the beta

From memory it will work until the end of August, at which stage hopefully we should be able to access either a new beta version or a release candidate version.
