Yabanize: Any chance of Google Cast being included in DishTV's Freeview+ boxes? Google Cast (netflix, lightbox, everything else) + Freeview + Plus (TVNZ and TV3) Would be awesome all in one box, But then again, a chromecast is only $60

Our boxes will have the ability to cast videos, photos and music from your device such as a tablet or PC / Mac. using the DLNA feature.
For example...

Download a media sharing app and you can cast content from that device to the box.
Windows PC's Windows 7 and 8 - Play To Device Feature

Windows 10 - Cast to Device by right clicking a file such as a video and select Cast to device > DISHTV.....

We are still testing the DLNA as it's unstable at the moment but it's still enabled at the moment, however you could give it a go with a file.

That's cool, but how about Google cast (What chromecast uses) some TV's are coming out supporting it

Will forward that on to the research team as a suggestion.

That is the DLNA function.

I see you say DLNA is still buggy in the 2200. Are there any docs on the DMR function?

Nope, we are working with the devalopers to get the main bugs and issues sorted before working on the DMR feature, once the DMR has a stable patch then I will get documentation out.

I've just purchased a T2200 after owning a MySky for some years. A few observations about the software.

- When I first powered up unit I chose WiFi as the internet connection which worked OK and achieved a connection but when the unit detected it needed to update it promptly disconnected the WiFi and eventually timed out on the update. This happened several times so I finally used a wired connection to get the unit updated. I also note that if I choose WiFi as the network connection it doesn't seem to remember the wifi password although the option to do so is checked.
- Selecting Info when on the library page displays correctly but pressing Exit goes back to TV. Back works correctly going back to the library page. I get the impression that the two commands are very similar but have been confused as to which to use at different parts of the UI.
- The unit responds too rapidly to the remote and toggles between commands if the remote is pressed for even a little too long. Needs masking so remote is released before another command is processed.
- Play and Pause toggle. Play should play and Pause should pause I believe.
- It would be highly desirable to make the sort option chosen in the library page persistent. It is very annoying to have to repeat this every time.

All in all though looks good. Nice to have something like this developed locally.

Any chance of being able to use a USB or Bluetooth keyboard in future?

Wifi is a dead loss so go wired , my modem is in the same room and is still crap, i have used a phone app to trace strength of signal and that is a non issue in my case,  however my unit does remember the password and switches ok if wired network is disconnected.

I use the harmony 650 remote and they were kind enough to add the T2200 to their native data base and no such double skips now using that

play and pause are the same command it seems ?

Retaining the preferred sort option after exit of the library  was mentioned 2-3 weeks ago so it has been submitted and is in a holding pattern for the last two updates , we can only hope. The magic TV did have that feature so hopefully india can get that sorted

I'm using Harmony 700 and it double skips as does the Dish TV remote. Yes, tried WiFi with watching a movie from media server and it was impossibly jerky.

harmony very recently updated the T2200 , try deleting the Box off the remote and updating, i HAD the exact same issue until i updated by deleting the box off the stored devices and reinstalling on the Harmony software.  see here  https://forums.logitech.com/t5/Harmony-Remotes/CE1001-error-with-DishTV-T2200/td-p/1447423

I'm wanting to ditch Sky for Freeview Plus set top box. but there is a real lack of options at the moment for something that operates like Mysky with HD and built in HDD. My only concern is the reliability of these boxes. All my experiences with "freeview approved" boxes have been terrible, I've never found anything as reliable as Mysky. Is this T2200 a reliable option?

i have also never found a match for mysky, however this box is half the price and you retain ownership of it . It has been out all of a few months BUT it runs fairly cool and quiet , total life time is anyones guess , i have never noticed it running no matter how quiet the room was.  It is still in development software wise, there are obvious issues however they are resolving some of them very quickly . If you got one you are still in the early adopters category but i like mine more than my magic tv and previously my sky on power consumption alone. Prime is going HD next year too :)  Free is good .    A 4k version is a way off but has been mentioned , obviously that is really just upscaling at this stage with a savage lack of content.   the red shed had the T2200 for 350 when i got mine, id do it again , especially given we are having all issues taken on board and slowly fixed , im willing to go along for that ride

The T2200 comes with a 1TB built in HDD which is the equivalent of a MySKY+ unit,
as well as that you can get TV One, TV2 and TV3 in HD and record two channels while watching a recording or on demand.
FreeviewPlus is included which means you can browse back 8 days on the guide and catch up on missed shows available through the On Demand apps. At the moment TVNZ On demand, 3NOw, Maori TV On Demand and a interactive game portal is available free! with support to add more apps in the future.
Series Linking, Live Pause. and a online remote to control the unit via a smartphone or tablet/PC.Live streaming is also enabled which you can watch the current channel on any computer, iPad in another room using your local network (no data is used.

We are improving the unit all the time, and while a few minor bugs are encountered we roll on a 24 hour period to get them fixed and updated automatically so it makes enjoying the T2200 more pleasant.

Thanks Jimmy22

We work around the clock to get these issues reported, replicated, isolated then fixed for a update straight back to your units. One of the things we have looked at this year is customer feedback which has been great!
