I mean I use my Samsung TV to watch live TV, or even via the mySky. Most recorded content is played out of the Panasonic via its DLNA server across the network to either Kodi or my other Samsung. I couldn't fault the HWT in any way apart from the tuner resource and overlapping recordings issue.
Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
Just an idea, but I wonder if its a handshake issue. I don't own one of these machines but presumably it feeds the TV via a hdmi cable. One clue is someone mentioned that it recorded ok even though the screen went blank. Someone else mentioned that they changed to another hdmi socket. I often have a similar problem with one of my Tivos but instead it was the sound going weird. I'd quickly turn the TV off with my Tivo remote and then back on to reestablish the handshake.
I read on one of the local home theater suppliers website that the hdmi cables should ideally be two or more meters long for the handshake to properly connect. In my case the TV is right above the Tivo so I am only using a one or one and a half meter cable ( I've been too lazy to change it). Could this be an issue?

I haven't actually noticed the blank screen for some time. When it was happening frequently, I found that simply pausing the programme and then continuing a few seconds later allows you to watch "live" TV, without the screen blanking (since recordings are not affected). However, some live functions aren't available in this mode and there may be limits with other recordings.
But, as I say, I haven't noticed the problem for quite some time, though we don't watch live TV much.

HDMI is a digital cable. If a cable meets the HDMI specification, then it will work with devices that meet the HDMI specification. The length does not matter - with digital, it either works or does not. If it does not work, then the cable is faulty and should be returned under the CGA for replacement or repair. Whatever the length of the cable, if it says it is HDMI, it must at each end of that cable produce and receive valid HDMI to the specification. To do that with a long cable (>= 10 meters usually), it will require active hardware in the cable to regenerate the signal. For shorter cables, the cable is passive and the signals will just pass through it to the other end. At the other end, the levels will be smaller than at the input end, but still within the HDMI specification. So any suggestion that you need a specific length of HDMI cable is just complete rubbish.
So, I bought this device and was enjoying it's season pass ability until today. When I checked my upcoming recordings (I have a series record option for Coro), it said there was no program information for Coro Street, which seemed odd given it's being advertised left right and centre. So, I checked the guide, and there it is in the guide for Thursday and Friday, but my series record still say no information. I set a series record on the Thursday night option, and it appears in the program information as a different series to the original one, which is still saying no information.
Anyone else seen this? Yes, I have the latest software.
Incidentally, last week, Coronation Street on Saturday only partially recorded. My mothers TiVo recorded the whole show, but in two sections, leading me to believe it was split in the guide. I didn't check. So, my smart device wasn't smart enough to record the second half, when TiVo, which is years old, was smart enough?
I'm beginning to wonder if the series record is actually capable of recording a series or not on this device, or only when it suits? I'd be interested to know if anyone else is seeing this and any advice on who to complain/raise the issue with?
Thanks in advance.
I just ended up putting my 260 into the cupboard to gather dust and set up one of these paired with Nextpvr and Kodi no muss no fuss all works well. Quad tuner and even the missus can drive it all which is a bonus.

Get off my lawn.
Funnily enough, the unit did detect a firmware update but, after update, it told me the firmware was at 1.02. So I went to the setting which checks for updates and it told me there was a 1.04 available, so I forced that one. It said there was an update to Network Services but no details and I don't see what has changed.
Maybe they've corrected the intermittent black screen problem though whenever that happens, we just pause for a couple of seconds and then play, so it's not quite live. This works a treat provided I don't want to record anything at the same time.
I see they have added a Lightbox app to it now. Seems to work fine.
I have noticed that the fan is running all the time when the unit is off. For example: Turned off at 9 PM and at 8 AM next morning, find the fan running. Turn off at the wall & then on again. Once unit has turned on and then turned itself off automatically, the fan stays off. That is, until I use the unit again where the fan stays on for ever.
It is not too apparent, as it is quiet. I just happened to notice it as I was bending down behind it one morning, before it was switched on.
Anyone else notice this?
EDIT. Just noticed that after switching it off, where the fan stops, it starts spinning again after one minute.
Turned off at wall, wait 30 seconds, turn on, fan spins. The unit goes through its setup and switches off, fan goes off. Wait one minute and fan starts spinning even with the unit off.
Will monitor more.
EDIT #2. I have the unit set to 'quick start'. Later, I will set that to off and see if that is the reason the fan does what it is doing.
Wasnt there meant to be a new 3 tuner Panasonic model due to be released about now?
I can't believe that the Panasonic doesn't allow you to use live pause and rewind on programs you are watching and recording at the same time. The only way around it is to use the recorded version, which is a pain if you are part way into the news and the phone goes. Even my Dish 2200 can do that, even if rewind with picture is a bit iffy. Then there is the screen blanking..... I tried turning off the Freeview Plus as suggested - this seems to work but then it is a pain to find On-demand services. Then there is the lag.....

I haven't tried this but page 22 of the manual states that simultaneous record and play is possible ("You can play the recording title from the beginning"). Just follow the instructions there. It means you'd have to go to the Video Menu and play the title you're recording, from there. This should also allow you to pause.
I haven't see a blank screen for a while but we almost always play "live" programmes with a slight delay (press pause for a few seconds and then play). This means the programme is playing from a recording and so no blank screen. It's a little restrictive, of course, but it is a way round it. Alternatively, never watch anything live, only the recording.
But, yeah, the facilities aren't as good as on our old Magic TV box but then we had other issues with that. We've kind of gotten used to the defficiencies but I agree with everything you've written.
