Bananabob: Choice TV have announced a new On Demand system - Is it going to be added to the T2200?

Great Question, if they join FreeviewPlus (which by the looks of it, looks promising) then the app will be added to the aerialBox. I'll have to have a chat to the dev team regarding the 29th November.

joshhill96:
Wills1: I'm wanting to ditch Sky for Freeview Plus set top box. but there is a real lack of options at the moment for something that operates like Mysky with HD and built in HDD. My only concern is the reliability of these boxes. All my experiences with "freeview approved" boxes have been terrible, I've never found anything as reliable as Mysky. Is this T2200 a reliable option?

The T2200 comes with a 1TB built in HDD which is the equivalent of a MySKY+ unit,
as well as that you can get TV One, TV2 and TV3 in HD and record two channels while watching a recording or on demand.
FreeviewPlus is included which means you can browse back 8 days on the guide and catch up on missed shows available through the On Demand apps. At the moment TVNZ On demand, 3NOw, Maori TV On Demand and a interactive game portal is available free! with support to add more apps in the future.
Series Linking, Live Pause. and a online remote to control the unit via a smartphone or tablet/PC.Live streaming is also enabled which you can watch the current channel on any computer, iPad in another room using your local network (no data is used.

We are improving the unit all the time, and while a few minor bugs are encountered we roll on a 24 hour period to get them fixed and updated automatically so it makes enjoying the T2200 more pleasant.

That sounds very encouraging, thanks. My cheap Sky deal runs out in January at which time I will be purchasing a freeviewPlus box

joshhill96: Hi All,

A new firmware has been released, if you have set the updates to automatic, this should have been installed at 4am over the last few days. Version 01.1E November 7th 2015
You can also manually scan for the update. If you do not have the update or the unit cannot get the update please Private Message me, To check if you have the latest update go to Menu > Installation > System Info

This release should fix the audio freezing problems with playback as mentioned earlier in this discussion last week, I have also got the built in iManual updated to cover more areas of the T2200. If you still have issues please continue to post in this dedicated forum: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=170896

Cheers! Josh @ Dish TV

Hi Josh,

I'm a new member on here, I joined just to report an issue with my T2200, Since the New Update Nov 07 15, I have found that the on demand apps for both TVNZ and TV3 have been pretty much unusable.

My issue has been they will play a little then buffer, it takes ages for it to work again, I thought it was my internet, but all my speedtest results show I'm getting what I should be plus I'm on fiber so should be fine.

In the end I just gave up, I googled this issue couldn't find anyone else having the same issue, saw that you had firmware on your website, so downloaded it and looks like I downgraded to 1.18, I tried the on demand and both of my issues have gone, I also noticed that the HDMI CEC remote function works again as it disappeared on the NOV 7 update.

Hope this helps anyone with this issue :)

Wow that is plain confusing to have one update called 1.1E and another version called 1.18 via the website site which incidentally is from July ? according to the website. Why not call them all the same ? Can you help explain this one Josh ?

Yeah I agree Jimmy, you would also think that the latest firmware would be on the website.

I thought it was older but thought why not give it ago, I was surprised it worked most devices know its an older version and won't let you install it.

Im happy it did I haven't got any other issues so far, another issue I did have is that programs in the library once I played them they started playing 2min ahead of the start time, so instead of starting at 0 and playing from there it, would start at 2 min and play from there.

Which is annoying depending on the program if they start on time or not.

I'll post more if I discover anything, I have turned auto update off for now so I don't get the Nov one,

2min ahead is because you have set recording to begin 2mins in advance of the official start time, so the recording begins playback at the official time  , however if your program began early you have to rewind to find the beginning.     For what ever reason TV shows can start early or late so it is very wise to have 2min early and 5 min later set on all your recordings ! this is how the bx deals with that though.   If the bloody stations were on time it would be a non issue.   I mean they could easily play programs at 1 and one 45th speed to catch up a min per hour or take a 45th speed slower to gain a min , no one would notice .  of course its 45 mins an hour of actual show , the rest are commercials unfortunately.

I would be totally against a change in playback speed on TV.  We are manipulated enough with commercials, they shouldn't be manipulating the content that attracts people to watch their channel so they can squeeze in one or two more adverts per hour.  That IS what will happen, it won't be for catching up to schedule, it'll be to shoe horn in more adverts!

I know of at least one commercial radio station that speeds up the tempo of their music so they can say they play more music per hour than anyone else but play the same number of adverts as everyone else.  You can guarantee the adverts won't be sped up when the advertiser is paying for broadcast time and if they voice their own adverts they won't be wanting higher pitched squeaky voices!

Unless something is live there is no excuse for TV programmes to run late as they're all digital and timed to the second including the adverts.  They're all competent enough to be on time exactly at 6pm every day.

That's my rant for the day.

Hi guys, yes I have chatted to the website team about this several times and unsure on the updates, I don't have access to the website editor, I'll flick the team an email alert to address this.

Josh, have you had the issue I mentioned regarding the ondemand apps? I'm staying on 1.18 for now way more useable for on demand.

I was so confident that my downgrade had worked, however watching tv3 ondemand today again it started to buffer, in saying that it didn't take too long for it to come back, still not as good as it used to be, unless tv3 at server level were having the issue, be interesting to find out what's going on.

if you have transferred to using wifi instead of Cat5 or whatever that would explain the issue without any other factors. Also students are off now and hogging the net ! its the slowest time of the year for net

I tried TV3 OD again on my LG tv last night, and it failed to play for me again, so dont go blaming the dish box just because you are having issues with 3 OD.
