I like having the volume control on the remote control my TV volume, but would kindly request that Magic TV look at having some form of volume level control in the menu. The audio output level from my Magic TV unit is a lot louder compared to my Sky TV decoder, DVD/VHS recorder and standard TV channels. The later 3 are all about the same level. Just get a high volume jump when I switch to the Magic TV unit.

I too have a far higher volume from the MagicTV. Though if I am watching TV3, and switch to BitStream On and output in Dolby Digital, the volume level is then pretty much the same as all my other components.

The volume level for Bitstream OFF is, ideally, what needs to be reduced slightly.

Hopefully 'MagicTV' is reading these posts...
As per my thread (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=47148&page_no=1) they need to do some work around volume control (and mute button functionality!) regardless of whether bitstream is on or off.

I've run into a problem on a few occasions I have had a programme series linked and the show has not recorded and/or the link has dissappeared.

More annoying tv3 news every night has retained the series link but has stopped appearing in the recorded programmes. If I try to record it live it says something like can't record as it is already recording but will record at another time. I've had to resort to recording tv1 news.

The "TO DO" list I see has states a few times it could not find tv3 news or a couple of other shows which have dropped the series link as it obviously thought they had ended even though they hadn't. I wonder if it has something to do with all tv3 shows linked on the guide also appearing on the TV3 plus1 page.

Impressively though it kept recording Stargate Atlantis even though it moved to a different night and time.

I have also had the problem where MagicTV doesn't record a series. If you look at the "To Do" list you will find that each recording set up will show "No Episode" against it. MagicTV are aware of the problem and are working on it.

In the meantime I have a work arround - I choose one of the programs and go to the next episode in the EPG and tell it to record it. It then asks you if you want to cancel the series recording, select "No". If you then go back to the "To Do" list you should find that ALL (not just the one you chose) you recordings should have reset themselves.

Hope this helps.

I resolved my series linking by doing 3 factory resets, the 3rd one seems to have fixed it. So fingers crossed.

Does a factory reset wipe all recorded programmes?

I haven't installed any of the updates as yet, I wonder if that would make any difference.

I will also try that other trick thanks

A factory reset will not erase recorded programs. It "will/should" reset all the settings back to the default, including cancelling all the future recordings - except for Lurch where it took him 3 attempts...

I would also suggest you update to the latest firmware. I have not had any issues since updating to the 3.09 24 Nov 09 firmware.

I have been on 3.09 24 Nov 09 for some time and have experienced the "No Episodes" problem on that version.
