Try resetting receiver by physically unplugging FROM THE WALL (not just the back of the unit) for about ten seconds and connecting and switching on.  I had this once with a similar product and this was the cure. These receivers these days are basically computers and like the PC, this sometimes does the trick. Mains spikes can be the main cause for these problems to occur. A good filter would be worth an investment if it occurs again.  Hope this solution works in your case.

software avail soon for fix on ET boxes...
They work fine,as we know on HDMI, but remote issue for some and audio issue will be cured with new software...avail from
satlinknz.co.nz, freeviewnz.com, freeviewshop.co.nz, and of course Dave at hillcrest...
ET still seems to be the preferred HD box, nationwide....

Thanks pete9321, we look forward to this.
Can you please advise if a new version will be coming with an Ethernet interface added?

I'm using the beta version of the new firmware.  This is the version reported earlier has having a problem with audio quality on the RCA outputs.

I found an easy workaround for this - use a better audio cable.  I replaced the shoestring type cable with a thicker cable (I think it was a $20 ish cable set from Dick Smith but not sure).  This seemed to solve the sound problem.

I thought it was sound over HDMI that had problems?

Also, I had a problem with my box yesterday.  I came to use it last nigth and the time was incorrect, no problem once I turned it on the time updated but I was unable to change channels.  The banner came up but the channel wouldn't change.  EPG didn't work and a number of other little things.  Turned off/on and everything was fine again.  I'll be keeping an eye on things but hopefully just an isolated incident.

The clock time drifting/locking up is a common fault I saw it in the VisionE. If you leave the device off for quite some time the clock eventually locks up. turning it on fixes the clock but there is still some process locked. so no updates to epg etc. power cycle fixes it.
It is not isolated it is a bug. Visione are already looking at the issue.

Oops, I got it wrong.  Spong's posting (and some from others) was talking about audio over HDMI.

The audio via the RCA outputs is bad too when using the 1.04 beta version (unless using thicker cables), this problem may also be present in 1.03, I didn't try.

I'm about to hook up an optical connection to the home theatre receiver to see how that works.

Under standard 1.3 firmware gives good audio via HDMI and RCA Analogue.  Only issue is with digital out coax/opt which works 95% of the time with Dolby 5.1 sources when set to AC3 in menu, but breaks up 95% of the time with normal MPEG audio soundtrack when set to PCM in menu.

V 1.4 supposed to correct this, but supposedly reverses the situation, in that it corrects all dig outs, but screws up hdmi audio.
Seriously doubt cable thickness is to blame, unless it's isolated to your surrounding gear or a localised cable fault wiht your leads.

Given the Visione and ET come form the same shop, with similar bugs, does that mean they come form the same manufacturer also?

It could be interference on the RCA lead.  I'm about to set it up using component video and optical audio so I think 1.04 will work fine for me.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these ET boxes coupled with a (probably) 22" Samsung LCD TV for my mother in law who is 88 years old , so it needs to be easy to operate. But she also likes prime! Whats the procedure from changing channel from a freeview channel to Prime? Do you have to shut down the box to get the analog signals or would the TV remote automatically switch to the prime signal while the ET box is still on?
Or is like using the video where the AV button has to be selected on the 'TV" remote to enable channel changes on the vise remote.
I'm hoping that the remote for the ET box has say a button marked TV so that pressing it will revert back to the TV analog tuner which could be left on Prime.

She will have to click whatever ch no on Tv remote for prime...it will go thru the Rf input to Tv,from antenna...i.e. will have to use the channel tuner in TV itself..not a biggee.....too many sheep in N.Z...prime should never have become a monopoly of sky's!!
