I did some recordings last night one on Prime most of the one hour recording was pixelated.

The T1020 was showing 50% Sig levels and 72% Sig quality, it was raining at the time and have tall trees in the path.

But all my 3 TV are showing 100%, to me this seems that they have fitted low grade tuner to this box, so unless you are very near to the transmitter you will not get better results.

Today its showing 90-100%  Sig level and about the same quality as before 72%

I have never had a recording with out being  pixelated 2 or 3 times in a 1 hour recording.

hmmm... A week or so ago, the machine froze, just like a good PC bug, only way to get it going again was to unplug it and restart.

But the OSD Menus and Freeview Guide will not stay up for more than a few seconds now, making loads of things impossible. I tried updating to latest firmware but the problem persists.

Any suggestions? Maybe downgrade then upgrade again like Rojul?

Zipdisk this used to be the case with many especially on HD programs on TV1 and TV3. Ever since the 2nd to last firmware update these problems for the most part disappeared. (documented in the thread here somewhere). They certainly are a thing of the past for me.

I still have some on my computer i could send one to you,
I usually keep older FW updates in case i have to go back to a older FW update , I did that with all my satellite receivers i had for the last 7 years

if you downloaded previous firmware through your browser the files should still all be in your "Download" list unless you have killed the cache/history on it.

I bought mine in September which had the 2nd to latest release software and it had a bit of pixelation, but not too much. I upgraded to the Oct firmware and haven't had any of the issues mentioned above. Maybe something about the newest HW?

i have noticed that my old IDE HDD struggles at times (even though it is 7200rpm) especially when recording something in HD and watching something recorded simultaneously ... the speed of HDD might be part of the equation?

Yes, probably the HD performance has an impact. I've got a new WD disk and it works fine. Even extended the USB cable by 1 meter which is always a bit "dangerous" but seems to work fine.

I haven't had any success trying to trancode the MP2-TS files to something that my XBMC can easily handle, but no luck so far. Anybody have any tips? MeGui and ffmpeg seem to not like the format...
