Might be a stupid question but is there any way to scroll automatically through recorded content without have to click the up or down button each time?

Ok 2 questions

1) Is it possible to move in bulk, a pile of recorded programs to a specific folder
2) Is it possible to remove unused folders

SWMBO has set it to record a pile of kids shows and i am quite sick of going through 30 or so screens to find the show I am after, i know i can set it to record shows to specific folders, but is there a way to move the older episodes into that folder in one hit, rather than singly.

1) Press the tick button on the remote for each programme (i.e. select multiple programmes). Then on any one of them, press OK and choose Move To Folder
2) Sorry, no.

MTV4000 is a firmware/model that removes Freeview Australia restrictions from the Australia version of MTV3700TD. If you import one from Australia for use in New Zealand, you'll run into timezone issues and (I think) EPG issues.

New Zealand and Australia firmwares for Magic TV are not interchangeable.

MTV3700TD Firmware 6.01NZ
Firmware Date: 2013-4-3

This firmware is renamed from and is exactly the same as 6.0 beta6.

Changes from 5.10:
- Improve performance when using USB HDD in NTFS format
- Mute button now works in menus
- Support 576p/480p component output if video output format is set to 576p/480p
- Fix occasionally does not auto standby after auto wakeup for recording when standby mode is Energy Saving or All Off
- Fix uppercase file extensions not recognized for AVCHD file playback
- Support LAN Network sharing with multiple MTV3700 – In Magic TV Gadgets -> Network HDD:
i. Use Network HDD will let you play recorded programmes from other MTV3700 running Server on the network. This will slow down the access of Recorded Programmes List due to network access.
ii. Network HDD Server will run a server to provide recorded programmes to other MTV3700 that uses Network HDD.
This feature is not intended to be used with WiFi, which is not fast enough and will create various issues.

Please perform a factory reset after upgrading from 5.x firmware - all bookings in To-Do List will be lost and need to be re-added but the recorded programmes will remain.

If anyone is interested, I have converted an imported Australian MTV3700/4000 to a New Zealand MTV3700. The conversion was done by copying the headers from an Australian firmware to the same version New Zealand firmware. This fooled the MTV into accepting the NZ firmware as Australian. AFAIK the hardware is the same between all units mentioned above, only the firmware differs. Once converted the MTV accepts NZ firmware natively without patching.

It's a shame Crazy Stu doesn't appear to offer the unit cheaply in Australia any more.

Before the conversion, did you try the MTV4000 firmware? If you did, other than the timezone issue, did you have any problem with the EPG (EIT) schedules, i.e. all programme names other than present/following becoming a "."?

What I believe Ian was proposing was the possibility of obtaining much cheaper hardware in Australia and then being able to apply NZ firmware to make it run OK here.

This is the reverse of what you appear to be interested in.

The Hong Kong models have different hardware because their broadcast is different - they use DMB-T/H demodulator, not DVB-T.
