foxeydebs:

Last nite an app named Freeview Plus appeared out of nowhere in the form of a box that popped out from the left hand side of the screen.  It displays a green button but pushing the green button doesn't do anything.  At the same time two (or three?) lines of text that look like computer language appeared at the top of the screen. 'Exit' gets rid of it but then the Freeview Plus box reappears. 'Exit' gets rid of the Freeview Plus box but then the text reappears. I don't want either and its driving me crazy, any clues how to get back to a normal screen?

PS now have the Logitec 6500 universal remote, works brilliantly. If only Dish TV could make one like that...

Also got this last night, but only on Prime and the url at the top of the screen and the "Freeview Plus" box would keep re-appearing. Made Prime unwatchable.

It will work. Harmony remotes are great and you'll wonder what you ever did without one.

Does the Logitech have a 'jump 3 min' button so I can skip passed the Adverts. The existing 10 min jump is way too long.

There is also a problem where after boot up we can't change the channel or bring up the guide for a good whole minute.  Is there anything I can do to help alleviate this?

If it is anything like the T2200 then the default seem to be to go in to Low Power Mode on standby. I had the same lack of responsiveness on startup like you but now that I have switched that off in the Admin menu I can change channels a second or two after the TV picture appears.

From the manual:

Low Power Mode (LPM) in standby
Turn this on if you would like to conserve
power when the unit is not on, Having the
LPM on will cause the unit to take a little
longer to boot up (About 1 minute)

Anybody else having the issue of fast forwarding, or rewinding, and then losing sound?  It''s not 100% consistent but most times I ffwd/rew and then when resuming sound has gone.  I have to go back to the library and start playback again (and get prompted to resume fortunately).

I have the latest FW and this is about the only issue I have with the S8200, otherwise it's a great unit.

yeah, I've seen a couple of mentions of this issue so didn't think it was just me.

@joshhill96 is this already logged as a fault to be looked at?

Yes, I've had that happen once.

More frequently I am getting long pauses as programmes are deleted, and long periods for the status of programmes to change, for example changing to Part Watched or Watch.

And very hit and miss for it loading EPG when I press the button - even when the remote is pointed directly at the unit.

I have the same thing with EPG sometimes not laoding or being very slow.  I think that is a Freeview issue though and not specifically to do with the S8200 unit.

The remote problem has been mentioned.
Others have said using after market universal remotes work better.

Josh care to update us on your mention that there were new remotes being releases in the new year???

This is in production and will ship with the new batch of S8200 and T2200 PVRs. These buttons learn the users input so much better than the current ones.
