Moahunter:

Found that the bottom LH button labelled AUDIO on the remote gives an onscreen display showing single or two tuners recording.

You can also use the "i" (STATUS) button to show that information.

I'm agonising over whether to get one of these units. I don't suppose anyone in Akl has one in their garage I could borrow for a few days to see if it would meet our needs? (Beer or chocolate koha)

Wow we have had ours now for 6 years where the hell did that time go.

Never had an issue with ours expect for the black screen issue when time shifting was turned on from memory.

UI feels very outdated now-days but its functional I guess.

Is there nothing really out there to compete with this 6 years later ??

There is this from Dish TV but I know nothing about it.

We have had the Panasonic now for 4 years. We have had the Black Screen problem. We also experience a stall of playback and then a jump forward about 10 secs, don't know what causes it. I also find that a reboot, by unplugging from the mains is a good idea about once a month, which reminds me...

I just bought one off TradeMe this morning, to replace our Vodafone TV box.

I basically just want to start the 6pm news late and fast forward through the adverts.

It's been getting a solid workout, and let's face it as GZ users we have to monkey around with all the settings!

All good so far:

Cheaper than MySky

Better than HTPC/Next PVR/HomeRun.

That DishTV A2 thing is discontinued, but you can get a repaired one for $219. (Red flag if they've had so many returns!)

I still have my recorder but have mostly switched away from it, to now record IPTV using Plex on PC.

Not an STB solution, requires a PC and a bit of know-how but the killer feature is ad-skipping and being able to watch recordings from anywhere easily.

Followed this guide to do the setup, but using Xteve instead of the TellyTV IPTV Tuner in the guide.
Plex DVR in NZ, with no TV tuner or aerial | Jono Hill

Happy to share my settings etc in a new thread if anyone else is interested in doing this.

Is anyone having problems with TV3 six o'clock news?

We have it on series link, but it didn't record last night, and now the series record option is greyed out. I can series link other stuff okay.

Just a hint, for something like the news with a permanent timeslot, we use the manual timer set to a daily record.
We found the series link would often record the +1 channel instead.

I have forgotten how to ensure that programs with captions are recorded with the captions. Is there a permanent setting for this?

I have now found how to toggle the Subtitles setting between OFF and AUTO for individual recordings, OFF being the default. But it would be much easier if this could be made to apply to all progs. recorded since the subtitles can be switched on/off when viewing.

It seems that Captions (not Subtitles) are embedded in transmitted progs. particularly movies, in 2 ways. If you opt for the Record Subtitles (that should be called Captions) then the captions are there on the recording BUT in some recordings you can toggle them OFF/ON,on some other recordings they are permanently ON.

PHEW!!!

My Recorder remote stopped working. Changed batteries but still nothing. I found I could access recorded progs. via tv remote but not GUIDE to set new recordings.

Light bulb moment. What about the remote for my old Panasonic Recorder?

SUCCESS!!!!!

It does everything. Good on you PANASONIC.
