2lostkiwis: PixelMagic now know how to decode the EPG

Actually we do not decode the MHEG EPG (directly).  We (and I believe many other receivers) integrated a MHEG engine licensed from another company, and that MHEG engine decodes and runs the Freeview MHEG EPG.  This is why all different Freeview boxes show the exact same EPG (other than the difference between MHEG HD and non-HD MHEG as in MTV3700 vs MTV3600)

On the Australia MTV4000 we decode the free-to-air EIT present/following and schedules.

PureMagic: There are quiet a few people in Aus I know who would like to buy a 4000 model but they aren't sold here any more.

Have they tried http://dealspace.com.au/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=MTV4000 ?

Thanks for the link wklie. It appears they may have some reconditioned ones in stock. I'll pass the good news on.

I've had a problem with series-linked recording on the MTV3700 recently. Most programs are OK, but I've had a couple of programs recently that have completely failed to record, one on 4 and another one on Choice. Cancelling the recording and requesting the recording again seems to have worked, but there's still an episode missing.

One of the programs I noticed wasn't recording at the time it should have been and I pressed the 'record' button & got a message saying it was going to be recorded at a different time. There were a couple of repeats the next morning so I left it but it didn't record any of them either.

It would be a Good Thing if it was possible to see which time a series-linked program was actually going to record - some of the programs on Choice have 2-4 repeats & they're all shown with the series-link icon, but only one will record, you just can't tell which one.

Please go into the To-Do List and see whether the date/time for the bookings are valid/meaningful or not.

According to http://www.choicetv.co.nz/faq there are restrictions.  Basically you must record the first showing of a programme otherwise it won't work properly.

I realise this is probably outside of magicTVs control but I don't suppose there would ever be an option for the saturday movie on tv 2? to just record the whole thing including the Lotto break instead of recording the movie as two seperate pieces?

This is dependent on how the broadcaster put the CRID data in the programme information to instruct the PVRs for recording.

An alternative would be to use the manual timer recording function of the Magic TV.

Assuming you'd be wanting to set a "rec Weekly" setting for your manual record, you'd have to set a rather generous end time to cover movie duration variations, or be prepared to check/trim it every week.

MTV3700TD Firmware 6.05 beta:
http://www.magictv.com/nz/downloads/mtv3700_6_05NZbeta.zip

Firmware date: 2013-7-16

Change List:
- Support repeat by pressing and holding a remote button

Some of you may recall that Magic TV has never supported the repeat button presses due to a hardware limitation. This beta firmware attempts to workaround this issue.

If you find that the Magic TV acts as if it is receiving a button press even if you have not pressed anything, then do the followings:
- Turn off all lights in the environment
- If the above does not solve your problem, turn off your TV
- Downgrade to the 6.04 firmware (by looking at the front panel, if necessary)
- Let me know

All MTV3700TD users please try this out.

If anybody has problems with HDMI audio with any version of the firmware, i.e. can see the picture but no audio in specific conditions or with specific brands of TV, please let me know.

The update works fine for me even on my Logitech Harmony remote.

Wondering though, is there supposed to be almost a 2 second delay from when you first press an arrow to when the repeat kicks in? Would be nice if it was just under a second or something less as my first impression was it didn't work.

Love all these recent updates though :)

Yes, I felt the same.  Thanks for feedback.
