Yes, and it's been that way with otherwise perfect reception since March 2012. A quick check of a few channels shows signal strengths of 97 to 100%, and no bit errors for any of them.

More or less ... meaning that I cannot actually see the tower itself, since it is about 10 or 12km across the harbour from me, but there is nothing in the path.

The sound protocol comes up as HE-AAC2.0.

If you can see Mt Kaukau you could try that, but remember you will need to change the antenna rebounder bars from vertical to horizontal to use Mt Kaukau. I have line of sight to both transmission towers and have found Fitzherbert to be problematic at times.

No, cannot see Kaukau at all .... I'm in Thorndon so Tinakori Hill is right across the road .

I reiterate, it is only Prime, and only in the last couple of weeks that this started.

Where's Moulder & Scully when you need them?

With all the storms we have been experiencing with one at the time of the switchover your antenna or cables/connections may have been damaged. If you are in Thorndon there is a lot between you and Fitzherbert, including the harbour which can cause reception quirks. This means
you are in a marginal reception area for Fitzherbert. With all the frequency changes you may need to change/check your system from antenna to receiver. I know it is Prime that is affected by this by UHF is quirky at best.

UPDATE: Checked antenna, connections, cable etc ... all good. Sound hiccup still persists.

Recently other people in the Wellington area have been commenting on bad sound from Prime, so I wrote direct to Kordia.

They said that indeed some problems did happen a while ago when Prime national service went to three regional areas, but should be ok now.

I answered a slew of questions for them, so hopefully the engineers will assess all that .... will advise further when I hear back.

Hi Adam,

No, nothing from Kordia to date. The channel still hiccups, seems to be at about 4 or 5 minute intervals.

I got on the roof and checked again the cable, connections and antenna ... nothing loose or untoward up there as best I coukld see, and as I've siad it really is only with Prime.
Also updated TV firmware and re-scanned a couple of times.

Have/are you experincing similar problem?

Have you tried another source? i.e. another STB say an Igloo or Freeview DTT STB. Just to see if it's something in your telly or the transmission path?

UPDATE: As of about a week ago, have noticed significant absence of the 'hiccup' ... presumably the Kordia people did something to finetune transmission.

Will keep eye/ear out for any change.
