Cyberlink Powerdvd 7 h.264 codec: This makes it possible to view the SD interlaced channels.

would the trial version work? - its just the standard powerdvd 7, but with a 30 day limit.

It needs to be the version that supports H.264 decoding. I think it has an icon on PowerDVD desktop if that is the case.

Fossie - It might be worth including a 576i clip to check support for Interlaced H.264.

I was just thinking the same thing. Openmedia, do you have any shots of myth tv running terrestrial which I could include?

Also, thanks to Scott for the hosting, it makes things a lot easier.

A similar question - does anyone know if the free/bundled version of powerdvd you get with some dvd writers would work?
I'm using ffdshow at the moment, and it doesn't do a great job on the test downloads posted earlier.

Another cheapish option might be CoreAVC http://www.coreavc.com/ if anyone has tried this..... cheers.

PowerDVD Ultra appears to be the only product that will decode these signals at present. The free and demo versions won't decode H.264 and neither coreavc (or ffdshow since it's just using coreavc) since they are incapable of dealing with the interlaced signal.

Hi

Just a quick question. In DVBViewer 3.9.2 I have loaded the TVNZ 538000 Channels below
TV ONE (720p Upscaled)
TV TWO (720p Upscaled)
TVNZ 6 (576i SD)
TVNZ 7 (576i SD)
TVNZ Sports extra (576i SD)

I can view the 576i channels perfect but the 720p channels crash DVBViewer. I have the power dvd codec running and am able to play recorded samples in powerdvd ok.
Any suggestions?

Fossie: Hardware Required:

Any DVB-T tuner without hardware encoding will work fine. Find one with support from the software listed below. I have been using the HVR-900 Hybrid USB tuner, it has been flawless. It cost me $145 NZ in December 2006.

I am using the TransEdit MMC free tool to scan. But the interface is a bit confusing. Shall I just add NZ and set the device to scan, or manually enter the "transponder" things?

@Phatbloke: What are the specs of your system? If you can view the interlaced channels (the hard ones to get going) everything should be fine. Strange. Do you get audio?

Not yet. I used their test tool and found the channels. So I bought the viewer, but haven't received the download email yet.

I tried the Blaze Video HDTV Player but it can't find any channel - unlike the dvbviewer...

Yeah I got audio, the system is a dual core 2.6 with 4 gig ram and a nvidia 6500GT

I can play both 720p video sample streams in Media Player Classic, its using the CCCP ffdshow tryouts for video, audio isnt detected.
I added the CoreAAC filter as prefer under external filters, however i still get no sound. Video isnt all that smooth either.

Will there be/is there a free HE-AAC filter/codec + a working h264 one compatible with the streams? Any idea why the power dvd 7 one wont work?

edit: I got the Cyberlink 7 one working. I just made use of a few files in the trial, and now it works fine, in media player classic anyway. I would post a how-to but im not sure how ligit it is.

Now just CoreAAC, any idea how i can get this working? I used the latest one from free-codecs.com (1.2), i disabled aac in ffdshow. When i play this sample it works fine using Core AAC, but no sound is detected in either 720p clip.

I have added a 576i sample. Sample has been taken from TVNZ 7 which is currently showing TV 2 in SD.
