The box should pair to a Logitech Harmony Hub if the remote is Bluetooth based.

Anyone have that working?

Just got one of these beasts too. Starting to get some ok results (ie it works). All going well over the coming months some of the remaining kinks can be ironed out.

I have contacted Dish TV and asked that their warranty rego form be updated to allow the selection of the "Dish TV Super Box" from the model drop down.

Also after all the other firmware and OS updates I still found that a manual check of the inbuilt chrome cast app via the play store and found yet another update. Didn't help with streaming from some of the bigger casting apps (like netflix etc) wever it did help two smaller ones I use to monitor security cameras.

Any other hints and tips GZers are happy to share ??

I bought one of these units about a month ago. It automatically installed software version 1.26 during the initial setup.

Here in Blenheim, the only off air source is satellite. Picture quality seems as good as any other satellite source so happy with that. Streaming quality is also very good.

I took up the offer from 2degrees and installed Amazon Prime and that works OK but haven't managed to have the app listed in the apps page. Had to side load it. Netflix is still a problem unfortunately.

While away, my wife set up some programs to be recorded and on return found that less than 50% were successful. Many had the message saying the receiver was turned off, which it wasn't. No power cuts in the house over that week.

The EPG has also failed on Prime so not possible to record anything on there.

Having no manual recording is a problem too.

I just checked and see the box updated its software to version 1.29 on the 14th of April with the build date of 15.18.10.

The problems here are erratic recording success .

Unable to record  Prime at all as no EPG (used to work)

Occasional glitches on random satellite channels while watching live TV.

An annoyance is not being able to enter a required channel number from a remote. Having to scroll with the remote keys is annoying.

Hopefully the manufacturers will get these problems sorted soon (ever the optimist).

Running the latest 1.29 firmware but I can't watch anything On Demand. It shows up but when I select "Watch" nothing happens. Anyone else have this problem?

Tried logging out & back in. I've restarted & unplugging the A2 still no fix. Feeling I may have to Reset.

Has anyone noticed a problem with recorded programs playback in that if after a while of fast forwarding you start seeing previous scenes. If you then stop it repeats the already played scenes - but if your rewind you then see that its actually in another part of the recorded program. Noticed that on a 90 minutes recording - after the 60 minutes mark any fast forward or rewind would just get the wrong bits to play.

Almost like the playback buffer gets overwritten by old content - or even if the playback buffer contains old content and is not updated with the new one after the fast forward or rewind, playing old stuff.

Yes i've had quirky FF & RW. What I've had sometimes is you FF then RW & it loses it's place & you are back to the beginning. So you FF all the way to were you left off hoping it won't reset.

I still haven't put mine "into service" yet due to having NO manual timer.

NO EPG = NO Recording, unlike every previous box from DishTV having a Manual Timer!

I did a re-scan of the satellite feed and now the Prime EPG works on both Prime and Prime + 1. Will set up some recording and test that later. I haven't used the PVR at all but my wife has so I will check from her after a day or two.

Will try the on demand later this evening.

Just tried On Demand and all available channels are working correctly. Had to create an account with Freeview to get it going. Had a problem with that too as the password I used had what they considered an illegal character. When I have used that character on other sites it has never been rejected. Different character fixed it.

Yes noticed this problem after the last (1.29) Firmware update.  Also occasionally in play back it repeats itself by 4 or 5 seconds.

I have also noticed these issues plus a new one we came across in the last few days is that with series recording we have got two recordings showing for one episode. Both went for around 36 minutes and stopped and then you have to go to the second recording to continue. This happened with two episodes of Manifest and I am sure that we didn't have any other programs scheduled to record at the same time.

Also noticed that when using the TV guide and I select another TV channel it takes me to the Freeview App on the apps screen and then I have to select the Freeview App for it to go to that channel. Seems very strange way to select a new channel - you should just be able to select a channel in the TV guide and go straight to that channel.

I have also noted some glitches in recorded content. Some pixelisation for a few seconds and a slight rewind before it continues.

I have previously let Dishtv know of the issues encountered and hopefully they are following this thread and addressing the issues.

Think tonight I have also had a version of this....

Have been watching a number of recorded programs.
At around the 15 min mark I get 2-3 seconds of a Déjà Vu as the program at that point in time repeats.

No glitch or pixels.. Just a few seconds of repeat of whatever is playing back. Have had it happen across 4 recorded programs tonight and it's repeatable.. I can rewind to before the 15 min mark... It starts straight away.. Hits the expected time frame and repeats in exactly the same place.

Next plan is to grab a copy of the recorded content and see if the Déjà Vu moment is in the recording or not.

Mission for another day.

Still think the device has some merit... But at $400ish really should have had some more of the bugs squished. Or we should be all enrolled in some kind of beta rewards plan.

I also would like to either pair my Harmony remote to the Dish Tv A2, or load the box into the Harmony list of controlled devices. Has anyone successfully tried either?

I picked up one of these on special from Harvey Norman last night. My first 24 hours experience with this unit has been mixed, but more positive than negative..

I replaced a 5 year old UltraPlus F-9000HD PVR HD Satellite Receiver with it so it was just a matter of taking the old one out and putting the A2 in its place.

The initial automated set up went sort of ok. It picked up the update, paired the remote and generally booted up ok.
However t wouldn’t scan the third tp on D1 so I only got about 7 channels. Also those channels it did pick up were badly pixelated. The strength and quality of the signal were both ok (over 70%).
After trying the various settings and tweaking the sat parameters with no success I swapped to my other slightly larger non Sky satellite dish. Presto, all channels loaded successfully and the pixelation was gone. My only deduction from that is the A2 requires a stronger signal than the Ultraplus to operate.

I run a Synology NAS for holding (among other things) my movie collection and successfully downloaded the DS Video app and its functioning. To answer some earlier questions in this thread it handles the Ac3 audio stream to my home theatre without problems.

Various other apps have been installed successfully, the one I haven’t found yet is the ThreeNow streaming app ( that may be due to my poor search technique tho)

One quirk I have noticed with series recording is that if I select a series on say Tv1, it also marks the same program on the +1 channels. I haven’t had it long enough to see if it actually records it off both channels. If not then I think it’s a good reminder you are recording it on another channel. If it does record both then IMHO that should be patched.

My next mission is to see if I can get my Harmony remote to control it. “She who must be obeyed” is not a fan of new or multiple remotes, so no doubt it will become my priority 😉

I’ve found a work around for pairing this box to my Harmony Smart Hub, I’ll post instructions once I have all the buttons mapped and confirmed it all works as expected 👍🏻😄
