LimO: Hello. I have been reading a number of these posts regarding the T2200 including the latest ones from this month with a view of buying one to replace our Sky digital box.

Can someone just clarify one thing for me? Will I be able to stream movies using the T2200 (with the wifi connection and broadband) from sources other than TV ondemand or do I have to connect another network device like the chromecast or via our PC or tablets for those external movies, Youtube etc...

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Hi LimO,

The T2200 does not include a web browser so cannot be used to access such resources directly. However, it does a very good job as a client for content available on the home network (e.g. from a NAS or Plex Media Server). It also works well as a "Cast to Device" destination from Windows 10 PCs.

It would be really good if it could do Youtube, Netflix, lightbox etc as well as freeviewplus. One box for all would be great.

You can cast videos, photos, music to the T2200 using a smart device or your PC / Computer, if you would like help in this please private message me and tell me what you have so I can get some instructions for you.

A popular request, unfortunately apps like YouTube, Lightbox, Netflix, Neon require negations with content distributors to allow content to stream content from the boxes, some services have a requirement that a certain percentage of users worldwide have the set top box in order to make them avaliable to the end user, it's great to contact the support teams themselves of these services and request to get the apps on our 2015+ range of devices.

Hi guys, I've been interested in using the T2200 as a MyFreeviewPlus alternative to MYSky (which has worked well for a bit, albeit overpriced as hell). I was just wondering where the cheapest place to buy the box would be. Heathcote has got it listed for $499 and Pricespy didn't turn up with any options so I was wondering if there's a place to buy the T2200 cheaper?

Given Dishtv sell direct and they have it for 449, why would you even consider paying 499 for it?

warehouse when on sale, noel leeming when on sale, JB Hifi when on sale, there are probably more but they are the typical ones you see people buying them from

i think i picked mine up for ~$350

Not sure where Jase got his information from, however in my experience the T2200 is a DLNA certified device and plays content from my NAS (network attached storage) device just fine.

Can the 2200 play video files from an attached USB drive? What formats are supported?

yes it can, i have only found one file that i have where it doesnt play properly (its stutters)

unsure about drive formats, i know NTFS works

Sorry Jase, I meant file formats. My WDTV plays everything, I'm checking if I can retire that device if I get a T2200

HI Zreh,
Just to give you an idea.....I went out to Noel Leeming and bought one yesterday.
I checked up all the prices from pricespy and the posts from users on this forum and found that Smith City (Tauranga) is still doing it for $379.99, which is the cheapest I can find currently. Even cheaper than JBhifi $388. The Noel Leeming rep checked the price and matched it to the Smith City one for $179.99 and I also got fly buys for it. Now the fun begins. I have a satellite connection to my Sony HDTV which we bought ages ago and doesn't have a built in Freeview decoder but the T2200 requires a Terresterial connection via the UHF so now I have to get some cabling done before I can get the freeview channels. I wonder if the ON Demand via the wifi will work even though its connected via satellite....will have to see ...

@tdgeek i also have a WDTV in the bedroom and as i said i have only found 1 file thus far that it wouldnt play. I havent watched a tonne of different things on it, maybe 30-40 different files so far as we still have sky for another 2 weeks.

As suggested in an earlier post by Yabanize, Chromecast support would let you use these services (netflix, youtube etc) from a smart device or Chrome Browser tab?
I guess some sort of licencing is required for chromecast support?
