I'm still getting odd pixelisation too intermittently. Apart from these minor issues the eXtra Terrestrial is great receiver. What makes it great is the support it's recieving from Pete here and the firmware updates that keep on improving it. That's all customers ask for...Good Service. I feel we are getting this through good communication and fast response times to these requests. Thanks Again Pete.
It is great having the S and Q around the right way now. I notice all channels report playing in 1080i. That does not seem right to me, it is almost like it is set to show 1080i regardless? What is the icons intent, surely it is to indicate the resolution of the broadcast at the time?
The 1080i refers to your TV sets resolution. Findout what vertical resolution your TV is, and set it on the remote under ASPECT or RES buttons. This way your receiver delivers whats best for your TV doesnt matter what the original content is. Dont use the AUTO setting as it will crop on some of the TV channels offerings. I agree it is a little misleading as is L/R which should be L-R.

I disagree. I have mine set to AUTO, because then the box feeds the native resolution of the broadcast to my HT receiver/TV to do the scaling (hopefully a better chipset!). Nothing is cropped. So, TV1 and TV2 are sent as 720p, TV3 as 1080i and the others in SD. That way I'm minimising the number of scaling steps, or that's the theory anyway. I don't think the ET box would have that good a scaler in it, anyhow.

I agree with Bazzer you should feed the native signal to your tv your tv will do a bvetter job. If your tv does 1080i tv3 should be set to 1080i. And with tv1 it should be 720p. Some stbs do not change resolution even when auto is selected. visione is one of them when using component. I have not got an hdmi capable tv so I cant tell you if auto resolution is ok or not on hdmi.
Auto passes the native broadcast resolution to the tv.? The Zinwell for instance can not do this.? On my TV this makes changing channels slower as it needs to resync itself I guess each time.? I found just setting the boxes output to 720p gives the best results for my TV.? Do this from the remote and also through the menus, one of the settings will stick!
My box is running latest firmware and audio output seems good for me.? I haven't done a long test though on say C4, I've only used it for 5.1 shows on TV3 in dolby that have always worked ok for me anyway.

You are right it probably does. However, if I set it to how I previously mentioned, the graphics dont turn to RUBBISH and I NEVER have to adjust my aspect ratio on the TV ever . . . well not true . . . only then sometimes for DVD's.

I just downloaded and upgraded to the new Firmware, 3 boxes now upgraded, had a small issue to begin with but factory reset and auto setup has fixed it.
The firmware works well. All 3 muxes have all the available channels displayed (ie tvCentral is FIXED in Hamilton).
Remember when you upgrade follow the instructions carefully (in manual of PDF on web site). I am now going to add a factory reset at the beginning of the sequence to my personal proceedure.
So. Factory Reset (menu->system settings->factory reset->default code 0000), wait for reboot and setup screen to display. Power off using rear switch Plug in USB stick (see manual for instructions on USB devices if you need it) Power on and wait for "boot" to be displayed Press channel up [WHILE boot is displayed!] and wait for USBx to be displayed (if this doesn't display then the USB device was not recognised, see the manual for USB device selection). Release channel up and watch count up to 100P Box will reboot and come back up to the setup menu. At this stage, I power off from the rear switch and remove the USB stick. Power on and allow to boot up, at auto setup select OK and wait for the channels to be scanned and setup. Enjoy.
The firmware also has the other fixes (S/Q) etc in it so a definate upgrade for Hamilton/Waikato people.
Correction...software on our site is perfect for Waikato...Mark, must be getting some other Tx sigs... We have a UHF antenna here pulling in Te Aroha,.. PERFECTLY.... auckland ...unit still gets TV.Central...(actually maori TV)....this is being fixed at present....

Peter is correct, I have ammended my post. I had a small issue (turned out to be a faulty cable before my splitter!) that I doubt anybody else will have. The firmware is fixed and works as advertised. With this update the box seems to be fully functional and ready to take over the world.
