Thanks for the information! I noticed that SmithCity had it on that price about half an hour after I made my post but I was curious to see if anybody on here had found something cheaper. I'm quite curious to see how ON Demand works with WiFi, probably not as well as Ethernet, but I'd prefer to not have to buy another Ethernet cable and hide it behind the curtains. I really like the look of the new FreeView EPG and My FreeViewPlus stuff so I'm honestly hoping that the entire experience is at least as intuitive as MySKY as well as being fast and pretty. I'm getting this for my parents so I'm hoping it's painless as possible and really don't want it to stuff up with OnDemand or recording.

I doubt it's as intuitive as MySky, as currently the T2200 comes across as a bit of a hybrid box, bolting together the OTA (Freeview) and internet-sourced (Freeview+)programming/recording. While I've not had a decent look at it since a supposedly significant firmware upgrade, I found these two "worlds" were fairly separate and disconnected, leading to multiple programme guides for example. I bought this model for my parents, who are in their 80s, and they've taken a long time to understand this difference (to them if it's from the same box, why is it accessed differently?!) and so the learning curve's been steeper than their usage of their old MagicTV, but I think they're nearly there and are enjoying being able to watch programmes on demand.

As I've commented on earlier in this thread, the + interface is still somewhat dependent on the interface of the individual app, and the TVNZ app is a complete dog in terms of its colour palate. They've elected to use a pale green and white for key text, including search boxes, which makes using it really tricky for those with smaller tvs and/or poor eyesight.

I think the situation with multiple EPG's is going to be a bit of a hassle and it may take a bit of time to get used to it. With Sky, all you have to do is scroll over to the show you want to watch, and then click the record button. Hopefully I can do the same with the FreeView EPG and don't have to use the DishTV EPG which doesn't look very user friendly to me at all.

I'm interested in seeing how the On Demand works over wifi too. I use my Chromecast over wifi to view BBC iPlayer and that works fine.

I'm looking to replace my old Magic TV 3600 with the T2200, from what I can see if looks like it will do everything I need.

i tried the 24bit one from there and it was very choppy
i tried the 16bit one and it was better but a little statticy in places

tried one of the songs from there and it was staicty again, so im guessing its to do with either the setting used to convert/make the FLAC file or the unit just cant quiet decode it properly

Not that I am aware of, .mp3 files are able to play. I will talk to the team to see if the software can accept FLAC files through

@MurrayM @Zreh, my t2200 is right next to my modem so is hard wired but i changed to wifi and seemed to be pretty good (am on 70/30 VDSL) about 2 seconds of buffering before playing the first ad then 3 seconds before playing the content, cant FF the start ad. FFing the picture freezes so you cant used the screen to know where you are in the program. after the FF it takes another 1-2 seconds to get the picture and keep going.

Couple of ad's in there in during the playing which you can not FF. so it would be better to record the program as opposed to watch it ondemand

The above was using 3now

TVNZ ondemand required a login which i already had, but i havent seen an ad yet, non at the start and im 25 mins into something and nothing ....yet

content on both looks ok but i dont think its something i would be using much unless i forgot to record something.

I tried connecting to the other access point at the other end of the house and not much really changed didnt notice any real differences

i think as long as your internet connection is ok, and its got decent wifi strength then you wont have too many issues.

i dont think the streams are that high quality anyways

Blocking FFWD of on demand stuff is by design (Freeview requirements) I hate that if You miss a few minutes of the end of a program on TV3. Then go on 3now and try and FFWD to the end then you need to sit through about 4 blocks of adverts (often repeated) before you can jump to the last 5 minutes.

OK, just seen the unit do it again - about 5 minutes ago.

Some of the screen messages were (in no particular order):
Load
Boot
Stdby

And it's just happened again, tonight!?

And again, around 21:55 tonight.

Ok ..so can the box below triggered on by hdmi wakeup signal ? Obviously it needs to wake up to record things , have you cleared the recordings completely by resetting the box ? Maybe Josh can accept it back to determine if it has a fault. I couldn't honestly tell you if mine does that as it only uses 1/4 of a cent of power and hour and it's never been on my vampire watch list. Additionally try the full power saving sleep mode which takes a LOT more to perk the box up . Cheers

Jimmy,

The box isn't completely setup yet - my DVB-T aerial hasn't been installed yet. So there's no recordings on the device and none setup.

I don't believe it's HDMI triggered - just sitting here watching TV (Sky) when it happens.

This appears to happen at around 9.50pm each night. It's just some it again tonight.
