I have been having a bit of a play and on the harmony hub if you use "google" and "android tv" you can get a remote set up that is close but does not have the menu button.

it ends up setting up a remote for a asus nexux player. the 2 buttons it is missing is the power button and the menu.

has anyone found a better option?

Update: I have found a better option use Nvidia Shield TV, only just loaded it but looks to have all the required buttons :-)

Update 2: just found that the R (record) button is not there not a major but not perfect.

i tried this but it asked to use the Shield TV menu to sync with the hub.

How did you over come this?

on the dish tv you go to the settings menu under app's  and select the  "add accessory" option to get it to pair.

I purchased an A2 today from NL price matching the Warehouse for $349.
In our motorhome we currently use Dish TV receivers SNT7070 and S8100. This will hopefully eventually replace both.
So far in the last hour I have side loaded a file manage for the easy life, IPTV Pro and Kodi both with MH & ApsatTV TV streams all working perfectly. A Kodi Netflix addon fired up perfectly but without certification it looks a little 480p-ish.
My MiBox 3 & S will handle Netflix perfectly in the interim.
Perfect operation so far with just one gripe that won't affect most users. Travelling on the road manual satellite dish tuning needs to occur frequently and with the other Dish TV boxes that process is a breeze with live onscreen tuning bars. Unless I have missed a menu item fine tuning becomes just a more complex.
The MENU > Settings > ADVANCED SETTINGS > SATELLITE SCAN - Strength and Quality bars are not real time locking to a peak measurement.

This week I had to restart the record again because the Freeview live channel sound was still coming out even though I started watching an on-demand program.

I tried stopping the Freeview app but ended up having to restart the box.

Same here a few weeks ago.  Same solution.  No repeat yet.  My main issue is the audio micro pauses previously reported by others.

Relatively happy with the performance so far apart from the occasional but annoyingly noticeable audio stuttering.
I do question the purpose of the on/off remote control button though. Unless I have a bad one it is certainly not to conserve power.
Viewing satellite TV. On =10.3W Off = 9.6W. Just about the energy required to power that pretty blue LED ring.
I now just disconnect the 12V supply. Off = 0W.

Compare that to the 27" Samsung monitor being fed. On=c18W. Standby = <1W.

Greetings all,

I have been following this forum thread for some time and decided to go ahead and upgrade my Dish SatBox - plus , SV090PVR, (which has never missed a beat), with a Refurbished Dish TV Super Box.

I had used my old SatBox with a Google Dongle but did not like using my cell phone to control it, so sold the dongle, then purchased a Dish smartVU-X unit, plus it’s USB Ethernet Adapter, but swapped them out to reduce cord clutter

I currently think that the SatBox with it’s remote was better to setup than the smartVU-X or SuperBox with their pathetic little remotes, however early days.

Last night I was watching an on demand program and the audio was out of synch, never had that happen before ??

My Yamaha RX-V379 AV system has an HDMI ARC connection for the TV, another HDMI is marked for connecting to a Set Top Box

Dish say to connect the Super Box to the TV, I have decided to go with the Yamaha connections.

All comments will be considered..... :-)

I realise I posted this in the wrong place initially, sorry for the repeat, but I wanted to see if ther A2 users were also using Amaon Prime.  That being said ...

I'v run the Amazon Prime app on the A2 for a while and it has performed well.  Over the last two weeks, when I try to play pretty much anything it runs for about 10-15 mins and then the screen goes blank.  I can use the exit key or pause key to try and resume, but I then get the general error

"Something went wrong"

And a pointer to a less than helpful web page.  I have done everything suggested on there

Has anyone else seen/cracked this?

I saw there was an updated app for prime installed that but it made no difference. I've swapped routers, no difference.  If you exit prime and relaunch, you can resume, but it only lasts for another 10-15 mins.  I've removed the prime cache and data as suggested in a couple of web search results and logged back in, no difference.  I'm running 1.35 and there do not seem to be any more updates for the A2 itself.

Other streaming apps and other hardware seem OK, so this one has me puzzled as the Prime app was very reliable before.  Any advice or thoughts appreciated

Still waiting for a firmware update to stop the weekly system restarts when you first turn it on to watch something in peak programming and find the recording that was running is affected.....grrrrrrr

Why can they not allow the user to set a suitable restart time.....say 4am or 4pm?

Due to a lighting strike I have replaced my old magic tv 3600 with an A2.
Have had it now for about 8 weeks.
I have noticed after using it and putting it in stand by the power led turns red and the blue ring goes out. A few days latter with out using it and the power led has changed to yellow. The A2 is still in stand by and the blue ring is off. Twice now with the power led yellow and the blue ring off so still in stand by, I have tried to turn it on with the remote. It will not turn on. Sometimes there is a quiet clicking sound but it will not turn on. Only way to get it going is to disconnect the power and plug it back in again.
Just wondered it anyone else is having this problem?
I have checked for app updates and it's running the latest firmware.

And update from me.  Prime have told me twice now that android TV isn't supported for the Prime app, which seems wierd as it's there on the play store and gets updated.  Short summary - they cannot provide any help and suggest I buy a supported device, which I thought I had.  Ho hum.

These things have been around for just over a year now. I was going to purchase one but there were so many issues posted here I thought I let them get sorted before I took the plunge. I come back occassionally to see how things are going but I still see issues being reported.

Is it a case that the updates that are being supplied are introducing more issues or have things settled down?

Pete
