New tools have been updated, might be worth a try?

I don't have a device, but someone may want to have a try, remember however, if you break it, there's no way to get it fixed currently. But you'll have 4 weeks to work it out yourself...

Has anyone found a way to have Alexa control the A2 Superbox?

Does anyone else find you have to login back into freeview from time to time?

I get this maybe once a month and it's a pain putting all the details back in again with the remote.  Dish TV say this isn't a known issue and want me to essentially do a hard reset which looses my recordings and recording rules.  I thought that if more people had this issue than just me and were prepared to report it, then Dish TV might be more inclined to look into the issue  On the other hand it might just be my unit.

Another thought was that it I choose to ignore their workaround, it might be just as easy to have an attached keyboard etc to make it quicker to re-key the details.  Does anyone have a keyboard/mouse combo they can recommend that works on this device?

Yes, this is a long-standing issue. Generally I have to log back in after an upgrade or restart. Sometimes I have to log in even when there hasn't been a restart. And a weird variation is that sometimes the box requests a login, I can't be bothered at that time so exit On Demand, and then when I try again a few hours later, it no longer requests a login.

Yes, my wife had this problem. It would then not accept the password (which was verified to work via logging in via a browser), and she had to reset the password to be able to log back in. Got to a stage where just couldn't log in, and a complete reset fixed this. Hasn't happened for three weeks, so will see if happens again.

I had a spare Logitech K400+ that I attached to it to make entering in login details easier, but any USB wireless keyboard should work fine.

I have had the Freeview app remove or forget the login details with what seems to be no updates to the app or device.

Have always had todo it after a firmware updates which I expected. Maybe 4 times since having the device (just on 12 months).

I did confirm that a failed DNS lookup would cause the device to forget its Freeview login details but that was on an older firmware version.

We have had exactly the same issue - Wouldn't accept our password or username but we could log in via a browser. We gave up and I used the Apple TV to stream some content from TVNZ.

To be honest, I think that Dish have given up on this device. It still has micro pauses when watching TV - something that Dish admit that they are aware of (raised with them earlier last year) and were supposedly working on yet we haven't had any firmware updates for quite a long time and still on an old version of Android. Still no Netflix support either. The device had so much promise but has failed to deliver all of what was undoubtedly planned for it.

I haven't seen the "forget login" for a while" but we've been using our Amazon Fire TV and Vodafone TV a lot more. This box would benefit of Netflix but it seems that it will not be approved, ever.

Unfortunately DishTV seem to have a history of releasing Freeview products that have problems from release to replacement!

(Yes, I've had them all!, I have yet to actually put the A2 into service, I just don't trust it to perform as expected, and you STILL cannot set a manual timer!)

Wonder what they are due to release?

The box should pair to a Logitech Harmony Hub if the remote is Bluetooth based.

Anyone have that working?

I’ve found a work around for pairing this box to my Harmony Smart Hub, I’ll post instructions once I have all the buttons mapped and confirmed it all works as expected 👍🏻😄

Still working on this? :p

I’ve just bought this box to replace mysky.
But frustrating that my harmony smart hub seems to think that it is an IR based remote when it is actually bluetooth...
The hub has bluetooth but it may only be for ‘keyboard input’ (to emulate bluetooth keyboards I guess)

Why doesn’t it just work? That was the whole appeal of the harmony all these years...

The problem is Logitech hub does not have the Dish A2 in its data base as a Bluetooth device. So you have two options.
1. You can send the Dish A2 back to dish and request it have an IR receiver added.
2. Or you can tell the Logitech hub that the Dish A2 is a Nvidia Shield TV which uses a Bluetooth remote like the A2. You will have to pair the A2 to the Logitech hub to get this to work.

If you go back to the 9th and 10th of December in this forum it suggests telling the logitech hub the dish a2 is a Nvidia Shield TV and the next item is about the Bluetooth pairing.
Thanks to nzgman for working this out.

Does anyone know how to change the font size for lightbox on either the smartvu or a2 unit. I have changed the device accessability settings but lightbox is still tiny and the lightbox instructions also say the font size can be changed in the cc option but I only have enable or disable.
