harmony fixed the double press issue in 3 days for us  months ago , maybe get a harmony remote to see how they did it ?

if your res is not 1080p it kinda makes sense to use the proper number of pixels to display it to me , but having the option would be perfect.

but why should i have to spend extra money to get another remote? the point is it should just work with out any issues

but it wasnt like that before and it worked fine, 720p was streched streched to fill the screen instead of having a black boarder round it, ditto with smaller content, thats how every other media player ive used has done it. it would always fill one of the dimensions.

I do understand nothing is perfect and i do appreciate the help you provide josh but im going to be very hesitant in updating the software in the future until i know whats been changed because at the moment we are going backwards

What I wrote was ambiguous, my apologies. .I meant Josh should get a remote and pick the commands to find how harmony sorted this so easily. Stretched looks good ..interpolated pixels perhaps . I am guessing your TV can stretch this to fit in one mode it has available ? Pia for sure .. maybe both options on the t2300 would have everyone covered was my thought.

but the picture worked fine before the 1.24 update so its dooable

the remote thing is simple, its just adding a longer delay after it receives a command before it looks for another one. We do it all the time with microcontrollers and push buttons. a remote and the box are pretty much just microcontrollers. so it really shouldn't be that hard to impliment

Its called contact debounce.

Hi guys,

Sorry I was not on yesterday, I was getting a few things sent through to the developers, and I just had a great birthday cake (Yes another year older for Josh) I was not told of the new firmware until I found out here, so have asked for a changelog and I hope to get this posted in the Changelog thread.

I will gather what you have discussed here Jase after I received the changelog so I can begin collecting a data log to the team regarding the new release.

and how do i stop it auto updating, i turned off scheduled updates and downgraded to V1.22 and as soon as its connected to the network it wants to download the latest update. i dont want the latest update its made the unit largely unusable for me.

I'm sorry to hear that the software isn't being the best, Just to let you know I will be chasing this up immediately, in the meantime I will also try and find out why your unit is still updating with the options set to off/

pretty much as soon as the network cable is plugged back into the unit it pops up a screen saying "im going to update in 20 seconds" there is only a choice for "ok" there is no cancel or anything else so you don't have a choice.

and given about 50% of our viewing is via the network cable its kinda ruined it for us.

@joshhill96 i notice that the software has updated to the latest version, where is the change log for this?

The double button press is still there, this is very disappointing

i have also noticed that now when playing media via UPnP it doesnt display as full screen anymore if the dimensions are less than 1080p it will display as the source size of the file, this sucks bigtime as if you are left with huge black bars around what you are watching. I have played with the settings from actual size to fit to screen and none make it any better. This happens on ALL my media thats not 1080p. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

i really hope things are not going backwards with the unit

I can't see any new updates? I asked about a change log (support@dishtv.co.nz) and they told me they don't have one. Having considerable experience with software development, I'd say they were just fobbing me off or they have some serious issues with their approach to software development..

Hi Guys, the changelog is here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=183954&page_no=1#1505438

If you have a Windows 10 device available, I've found that if you Cast a movie to the DishTV the aspect ratio is handled just fine, but if you play the very same movie from the media center then it is screwed.  So, temporary workaround, cast to the device rather than play from it cool

no windows 10 here

Dishtv support staff have said the following:

"The change you are referring to is actually a correction of the aspect ratio. In the previous software when you have been watching non 1080p content in full screen the image was distorted and stretched by filling the screen. Say for instance you were watching a wide screen movie(which basically all new movies are) and on your TV it use to fit the whole screen. This means that the image is stretched up and down to fit the screen causing all content in the video to be taller than it should be.(mostly noticeable on people, they are taller and thinner than they should be.) You can confirm this by playing the same content on a computer and comparing. "

correction my ass, ive never noticed anything to be stretched

all the other media players i have manage it fine

I know that one of the boxes would play things like that, so when a 21:9 movie was cropped rather than having black bars in the encoded file, it would stretch it rather than add them back in.

I guess their change has had this unfortunate effect on non 1920 wide stuff.
