Now we know why there have been no updates for the A2 for over a year...
Anyone have any knowledge or details on this box?
Model appears to be A7070
Ships 9th Sept.
specs indicated DDR3 RAM whereas the A2 has DDR4.
Not going to waste my time with this. I think I will wait and see what Sky come up with.
Dish TV - you started well, with frequent updates, but then just stopped. I am sick of my box often having to restart when I turn it on "just in time for the news" and then miss the main story. How hard is it to add a restart scheduler?
Looks interesting, but I will almost certainly pass:
I'm not a Sky fan. But I'm reasonably confident that whatever Sky releases will be tested and actually work. I don't have such confidence in Dish.
I had a reply about this box.
Single tuner
No recording
It is essentially just a receiver/streaming box with no recording ability.

What on earth is the point of putting DVB tuners in a device (and a record button on the remote, for that matter) without the ability to record? Even the dumbest, cheapest DVB box will record if you plug in a USB hard drive. Mindboggling.
Well...I asked Dish about an update and got 2 replies
Sorry for the delay in replying. We are currently going through the google approval process with the latest version before we can release an update officially but there has been some unforeseen delays.
However you can download the software from the link below and install it via USB.
http://firmwaretest.dishtv.co.nz/A2/update.zip
How to update your A2 via USB
1. Download the update.zip file and copy it to a USB drive. Then insert the USB into the A2.
2. Press the ‘O’ button on your remote.
3. Move to and select Settings at the top right of your screen next to the time.
4. Move down and enter the About menu.
5. Select Local update then sdb1.
6. You will see a message saying Copying update.zip... this can take a few mins.
7. Then select OK when asked Are you sure you want to upgrade?.
8. The unit will restart and install the software
I then asked if I can share it with you all and got the following...
Yes the link can be used by others also. There is some bug fixes but the major update in that release is offset support for back to back recordings on the same channel. So it solves the issue where some programs are cut short on back to back recordings if the broadcast is running late.
I am installing now....

Haven't noticed any changes. Seem stable but nothing groundbreaking except the overlapping shows.

Hi, thanks for the Ver info. Has this update stopped the restart issue when you turn it on?

Hi team
We have moved into a new house and have UFB and a sky Sat on the roof.
We stream everything, 10 laptops/pc's and 10 phones/pads etc, plus 4 smart Tv's.
Disney, Netflix, emby and amazon prime but no sky tv and freeview.
I would like to install a multi channel decoder in the network cabinet so the whole house can access freeview as I do not want to get three decoders for the TV's for example...
Any suggestions on how to set up our house so everyone can do their own thing much appreciated...
TIA
Your smart TVs may be able to install Kodi. If so, you can install Kodi plugins for Freeview, Disney+. etc.

One option is an HDHomeRun DVB-T (terrestrial) TV tuner. Can live stream to VLC and Kodi. Streaming to VLC is particularly simple - no configuration is required. Can also stream to DVR devices. I have an HDHomeRun Connect Quatro. Works well.
Another option is a VBox Android TV Gateway. DVB-T (terrestrial) and DVB-S (satellite) models available. Can stream to VLC and Kodi. Can also function as a DVR, recording to external USB drive or NAS. Specs look good and the few reviews I found are positive.
