I've been running 6.08B2 for 5 days now and will revert back to 3.18 tomorrow. The FF/FR does show up to 32X but the reality is somewhat less. It is really only about 1/3 of the speed shown. I could live with that, but the system is slow to respond to any command when it is recording a program. I did a system reset when I upgraded to 6.02B2, went through the Guide again to reset all of the programs to record, reset all of my required recording settings and I did a restart after a couple of days. It is still very sleepy and tired. I cannot comment on any of the new features as I don't see any benefit in them for me. I was interested in the ability to set the volume, but this would only be any use if it could be preset by channel. I did not have the reboot on wake up problem until I tried 3.20, do not have it on 6.08B2 but the image does fluff around a lot with blue screen and lost signal for 10 seconds until it settles down. I have no idea which version I should use if program names start disappearing again.
Ditto on most counts. The remote got a thrashing and the unusual button force/frequency has caused several buttons not to work as well as they used to. I reverted to 3.18 (patched) again this weekend. Some of the programs I recorded with 6.08 are damaged so they loop, drop audio and lock-up.
I do encounter reboot on return from standby so I have disabled auto-standby (I would rather save the resulting $50/year 20W warmed cat perch though). I seem to have a memory leak but that isn't a problem if I schedule a daily shutdown and restart.
When the EPG stops working again I'll either update to 3.21 or find another STB that maybe costs a bit less to leave on.

I have also reverted now, 6.08b2 to 3.18 patched. Great to have the 1 minute skip back ... Programmed Harmony remote to do a 4 minute skip on long press of fast forward and also a 32 second back skip on long press of rewind. Works great.
I dropped back from 6.08b2 to 3.21 yesterday after slow response, audio dropouts, stalls on replay. I noticed that I still had audio dropouts and stalls on playback of programs recorded under 6.08b2 but not programs recorded prior to that release and I am hoping that it will be OK on subsequent programs. Could it be that a slower processor on the 3600 vs 3700 means that 3700 retrofitted features overloaded the 3600? Was 6.08b2 really tested on the NZ 3600 model?

The 3700 is a lot faster and probably has a lot more RAM (as well as twice the HDD). I think "testing" was more like "it seems to run, let's get some users to try it". Given that this 3600 was probably designed 5 years ago Pixel Magic might not even still have the original people on board.
I think that 6.08 might have a bit of a memory leak that slowly consumes resources over time. 6.08B2 was just a bit sluggish when first started but after a day or so seemed to start to really lose it.
I'm told it's difficult to deal with damaged MP4 data. The standard specifies how to deal with playback of good data but leaves the individual code cutter to figure out how to manage FF, Rew or incomplete data so some people come up with better schemes than others. I've observed that MTV3600 doesn't cope well with RF signal fade so I wouldn't expect it to be particularly slick about playing back an incomplete data stream. My antique Tivo does a whole lot better at user interaction even though it has an even older and slower CPU.

I even needed to do a power off/on to get enough response from the UI to reinstall 3.18. So, to summarise, unless there is a problem unique to my MTV3600, I don't think any of the versions suggested to fix the missing program name issue from before Xmas are viable.

I know you shouldn't have to but if you can nominate a 5 to 10 minute interval any time during the day you can schedule a timer shutdown followed by a timer restart. I shutdown at 7:00 AM and restart at 7:10 AM and this seems to prevent the memory leak from reaching problematic levels.
Hi JefWright - I cannot find a Timer Shutdown in the Menus, just Settings/Advanced/Timer Standby and I'm not sure this does a shutdown. I'm back to 3.18 and happy. If/when the EIT Huffman Coding decompression raises its head again, I will have to try 3.21 with your suggestion and if that doesn't work will look around to see what boxes are available. I read in the news that Freeview are planning a new service with new set top boxes later this year, so the current range may become obsolete anyway.
