i think that bending you are refering too is the reasoning for the recommendation of the double horizontal aerial type.

i just think we might not need the dux guts as freeview and its map says in zone and highly likely for HD. its the matchmaster site that has me worried as listing a transmit tower 40km away when there is one 6km up the road, not line of site either of them.

Infill transmitters are only low power. Maybe indicate which one you are talking about.

The aerial I ended up choosing, which has worked very well, was the triple folding structure type. Of course there is no guarantee that our situations are comparable and I didn't have the means to measure anything, I just took a blind guess and did some trial and error. At the time I had the benefit of some analogue broadcasters still operating from the same location, so I could use those to orient the aerial. After that I just kept pushing it higher until I got good digital reception. It was very much a number 8 wire operation.

Plenty of new UHF antennas suitable for your location on Trademe around $30 - $60.

No digital on that to my limited knowledge (doesn't appear on Freeview maps). Pinehill would be the nearest. I'm guessing that you are in or near Orewa in which case there is no local transmitter covering at all. Waiatarua is it.

Looks like Family Television Network used Whangaparoa, but think they now don't exist. Low power transmitter anyway with suggested power of 23 dBW (200 watts).

There's no Freeview Tx at Whangapaoroa. Depending on your location around Whangapaoroa you may see Waiatarua, Pinehill or Sky Tower (or none).

well that would be why it chose Waiatarua, still odd freeview website sees me as a HIGHLY LIKELY for HD though isnt it?

ive had a look around the suburb and it seems 90% of people have the

which can be had for $30 on trademe. most seem to have it on there roof. I saw one attached to the old (but looking new) analogue tv aerial.

i dont think the budget one from the warehouse will cut it but the above may be ok.

yep i agree, it seems nuts to be stuck with standard def TV in rodney. super separated cities.

we didnt bother with an aerial, free view is just rubbish outside choice and prime for us. view most of it on demand.
