I have a built in freeview in my tv but our house aerials are the cables with the nuts and more fibre like middle wire. I need a normal TV connection to join to it. What should I be looking for?

Please exscuse my ignorance.

awesome but the spikey end with the nut/screw (whats that tehnically called?) ill need a female as the aerial lead coming into the house is a male. i think the previous tenants might have taken off with the adaptors.

thanks for going easy on me, not a tv person so this is all new and exciting :-)

Goodness!  It's a while since I heard TV antenna connections referred to by their correct name. :-)

i
believe this is nearly what im after but the nut end (is that the f type?) needs to be female to join the male aerial cable sticking out of the wall.

No. f plugs/sockets are f59/f81
TV plugs and sockets are PAL.

Same thing but right angled.
Should be able to get them and short antenna flyleads (1 metre) at Bunnings and Mitre 10 too in the TV aerial/ A/V dept. Just make sure any flylead you get is good quality. There's a lot of rubbish ones out there.

Yes. I probably should have said short antenna co-ax flylead.

Thread hijack:
what was the name of the really old two prong TV connector to connect ribbon cable to the back of your trusty black and white TV?

I think you mean a balun which converted 300/75R ( or Ribbon to Coax)
