shomenno: Thanks for the reply, I already have a dish and a reciever and get Freeview. Would you be able to explain how I can do this in a little more detail, I am pretty new to satellites.

I am aware that you can pick up Australian Broadcasts and this includes BBC, but you need a considerably larger dish and a another LMB. Is this the same or different to what you sugegst?

Ta, Shomenno

ignore him, he was taking the piss.  telling you to subscribe to sky ;)

if you want BBC on freeview, yeah, you need a larger dish and a C band LNB.

nope a guy i know gets bbc useing a sky dish its 75cm

You can currently get BBCworld for free but need a larger dish. This is not part of freeview but on a different satellite altogether.
You'd also need a different receiver other than teh freeview approved ones I think. If you are already using a non fereeview receiver to watch freeview it shoudl be capable of multi satellite systems.

semigeek: I'd rather see something like a classic TV channel, similar to what TVNZ may be doing with Heartland on Sky.
a few years back C4 used to be running "classics"

like Remmington Steele and The A Team, I loved it!! :D

but sadly it seemed that wasn't commercially succesful enough as they're now got their current "youth" one (and heck, I'm a "youth" yet only 10% of the shows on C4 do I find worthwhile to watch)

The lower third seems a lot smaller than C4s (I can see why). I love the music choice, It really works as background music.

I was up late last night ... was surprised that it didn't start broadcasting just after midnight ... the EPG told me that 6am was the start?

*cough* FM radio stations *cough*

Seriously though,  that tends to be why I put it on - I'm too ADD to sit through a lot of music videos.

This is good. I dont really get FM here other then some crap LPFM station that seems to play lots of old crap,

Picture quality is fine on dvb-t - sound is as to be expected, ok on the TV, not too good to listen on the stereo without massive treble cut applied.

I keep forgetting about that bit ...

First vid I saw was all artsy, snowy and out of focus ... I did a double take until the next song was queued up ...

I have the channel on at the moment, my sat box is upscaling it to 1080i, have noticed pixelation on some of the videos being played
Can anyone measure the bitrate on the video and audio?

I have seen loads of pixelation on my sat box on my 21" tv - worst looking of the non useless channels on freeview IMO there.

Thems the breaks when you are watching too many channels stuffed into a too small space.

Seems like they have had to go for the cheapest alternative possible here. Just non stop 'alternative' videos without too much other content?

I was hoping they would have mixed it up a little and include some of the shows that are on C4 like the countdowns and other music mixes they have; and use a little bit more of a VH1 approach to at least some of their programming.

I am afraid that with such a narrow focus it will not lead to a very large following; but of course it will be cheap so may keep going just due to low costs.

So far I'm liking it, I'm streaming the channel from my HTPC to my dev PC and listen to the music while I'm working. It plays a good mix of songs and there's no annoying DJ like on the radio (and less ads too).
