@mentalinc Does your epg source hold listings for tvCentral, Parliament and SportsExtra as in MP I don't seem to be able to map anything useful?

not sure on tvCentral (I see that as maori tv)

Just checked and it shows info for patliament - ie the next day they are showing up to do some "work".
and sports just shows that something is coming soon.

Mentalinc is there any chance of you re-doing the instructions for Media Portal RC1, I have tried to follow them and im very confused on what to do to get this running, I have it running in GBPVR as those instructions were easy to follow, Im really getting stuck on this part about the command line still, I have no idea how to run this or from where I run it a screenshot would be most welcome here.

I also noticed on your screen shots of the MediaPortal setup page were very diffrent from my MediaPorta configuration, under TV I only have 3 options with RC1

TV Client
TV Post Proccesing
Teletext

So it appears to me the instructions were written with a diffrent version

Also this link on your page is pointing to the DVBviewer set up and not Media portal.

Sorry for the late reply:

Are you using mediaportal or mediaportal tv server?

If you have GBPVR running and want to get mediaportal working as well, the easist way is to simply tell GBPVR to put the file into mediaportals folder, you then just need to configure mediaportal.
Plugins -> xmltv the screenshots should be the same.

re the setup files its all the same download, you just need to choose what you want out of it.

re the update - I plan on doing a fresh windows install on thursday, so will install mediaportal (normal) before i do that and update the tutorial.

Cheers for the reply Mantalinc

I managed to get it going by moveing the EPGdata.xml file from GB-PVR to the Mediaporta TVserver directory and pointing to that under the XMLTV options in the TVserver config program, then following your instructions the rest of the way through.

Another Qs I have now is how often does the EPG update for GB-PVR ?? or do I have to update it manually.

Once again thanks for dealing with my incompetence :)

ok.
mediaportal setup is DIFFERENT to mediaportal tv server, its a one or the other, not both type thing.

If you have tv server you only need to setup tv server config.

now to the update thing.
in the GBPVR folder put the file "UpdateEPG.bat" <- make sure it just has the program name ie no -mediaportal or anything like that.

start config for GBPVR. on capture sources select the time you want the update to occur.

edit the capture source so it points to
"C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\tvguide.xml"

this will now update both mediaportal and GBPVR.

it will now update daily at the time you set it to.
dont have to worry about anything it should just work now.

I'm getting the uninstall path problem as well. The problem is that I'm running XP64, and as MediaPortal is a 32bit app, the registry entry is actually in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\MediaPortal

There is also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal which has an ApplicationDir entry as well.

can you tell me if
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\MediaPortal TV Server

or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\MediaPortal

exists if so what is in them.

otherwise looks like ill need to try solve this one as well.

thanks

Neither of those exist.

I run the EPG downloaded from the MediaPortal TV Server directory, and it does work. It just dumps the result in the root directory, from where I move them back to the TV Server dir.

Other possible solutions would be to default to using the current directory if the registry entry can't be found, or adding a command line override of the directory to use.

thanks for that.

Ill add the current dir as a backup option.

you can already specify where you want to put it.
try -dvbviewer path

No one has figured out how to read MHEG5 from a live stream yet.

Hey great piece of software..  Curiouse though, don't seem to be getting channel Three, Four and Six..  Are these just temporarily down or something?  Otherwise, all the rest are working fine in MediaPortal.  Thankyou.
