Mine is being picked up on monday by 1 day to be returned as I was not feeling confidient about the fix.  JB has PVR's on special this week if anyone is interested, as it was the recording function that caught my eye on the magnavox.  1 day took several days to deal with my email but once communication started they are been very responsive.  Yesterday's email from them said late next week for the fix

I like to wait for the fix. Saying that the title "setup issues - resolved!" is a bit premature..

My original title refered to the tuning problem since then the crashed and these things are generally cr*p issue has arisen, perhaps a title change is in order.

In other news, I give up, went to JB this morning got one from them, cost more but works great.

Has anyone been able to get any further details from 1-day as to where their supplier is at with this fix? If nothing, I'll just organize tomorrow to return the unit them as this could be going on for a while longer.

Thanks

You're right. I like to hear a date that the fix will become available. As the unit is now it's of no use.

I got one too ... thanks to this thread I figured out to set it to UK and so I got reception as of last night :D

Until then we have watched a few divx home movies on it.

This works OK, although it tends to bug out playing back from a USB HDD after about 30 minutes... reboots basically ... then it will play the rest of the video fine.  Some other times it will stutter for a few seconds.

This may actually be the USB HDD though as I see the light doing some funny things as if it's recalibrating.  The one time I played from a flash drive it seemed to get through the whole video OK.  Maybe it does not have the juice to run a 2.5" HDD (without an external power supply).

When watching DTV it bugs out after about 30-1 hour (NO SIGNAL) and needs switching off and on again (at the remote) to correct it.

So, this thing does kind of work, although it is not a very stable device.  It has plenty of airflow, etc.

Also the time can only be set to GMT +12 so it's out by an hour.

In two minds whether to send it back or wait and see for a bit, I mean it has a 1yr warrantee so I can always see what happens in terms of a fix, and/or crack it open and have a play.

TBH I was not expecting much at the price, and given past experience buying cheap PI stuff from 1-day!!

I have just received an e mail from 1 day saying they have received my box back and to watch out for the refund on my cc in the next few days.  They also said they have been unable to resolve the issue with the firmware

Just got this email from 1-Day warranties - looks like they are giving up on a fix so sending mine back.
Cheers to all.

We do greatly apologize for the issues you have had with the freeview box.

We have had both the supplier overseas and also Tisco in NZ working on the issue but unfortunately they haven't been successful to have this resolved.

They are still working on it but are unable to give us an ETA on when this will be resolved as we were wanting this resolved before now, so the best option on this occasion is to return the unit at our cost for a full refund of the unit and freight.

I received the same email message this morning -- have organised a courier pick up for Friday. I was hoping for this magical firmware fix to resolve all our problems, but having already waited 2 weeks for it with no sign of it, I thought it was getting slightly daft.

Anyway, this may be the last time I'm ordering Electronics goods online for a while having had a bad run of orders (via Local online retailers) arriving DOA (or defective) where 6 out of 7 orders needing to be RMA'd (not exaggerated). Ah well...

Has Wade had any more luck from the supplier/manufacturer for these? If it is a firmware issue then surely it can't be that difficult for the manufacturer to fix.
