Heard first hand that the NZ distributor doesn't expect the PVR frimware until at least mid March. Apparently the "factory" hasn't even started on the NZ version yet and is working on orders from other countries first.

openmedia: Yes we have a bleeding edge terrestrial service and there are numerous bugs in the STBs, but there are a lot of variables involved. That's true, but the bleeding edge factor is only a reasonable excuse for a limited period. More than 10 months after the launch of our digital terrestrial service there are numerous issues with many of the STBs available - it's easy to form the impression that several manufacturers have been lazy or greedy or both.
Hinko:InspectorGadget:Hinko: I'm in Wellington. A regional problem(s) is not yet excluded.
Lars said they could not reproduce the problem in the Auckland region. Anyone got it happening in Auckland?
That's bollocks. I'm in Auckland and I have dropouts regularly. I doubt they even tried.
Can I ask that you call Lars Telephone (09) 817 5105 (9am-5pm Monday-Friday)
or email him sales@freeviewshop.co.nz with your phone number.
He certainly seemed interested to progress the issue.
Please let us know how you get on.

JJM: Although we are belly-aching about our various STB's and their curious quirks, all this is on the assumption that the signal we are receiving at our antennae is unwavering and faultless. We all know that TV3 is the poorest of the channels, why is that? How do we get feedback to the FreeView content providers and what is the forum for broadcast quality discussions? Does anyone know where or how? Thanks.

I have a brand new antenna, brand new cabling and the installer tested it and said the signal was very high.
Analogue UHF channels like Prime look crisp, no ghosting.
Other Freeview HD boxes I've borrowed/tested with have had no problems.
It's not the signal.
Hinko:
Amen to that.
Can we put the signal to bed as frequently NOT the source of the ET digital audio problems?
If the ET reseller is adament that the issues are signal related
Hinko:
Who is the adamant reseller referred to here?
It is not Lars at the Freeviewshop.
Two people are on record on the list with experience that he is a reseller who seems intent on improving the ET firmware offering.
smac: Just because the ET fails in a particular location and a Zinwell works, doesn't mean that the issues aren't signal related....it just means the ET needs a better (perhaps perfect) signal to perform properly.Yep, either it's too good for it, not good enough for it or it's just not related.
