The main guy I have been dealing with at Panasonic that has been looking into this fault is saying the same thing that he believes its a signal issue. I have reservations as there are far to many people that are complaining about this problem for it to be this. There are also the people who have put up with it that think its normal as well I guess.

There is a general fault here and be what ever it is it needs to be sorted out.

It might well be something to do with Freeview Plus - I have not noticed the issue on my non-Freeview Plus 840GZ.

Yes it could be something like a sub carrier data element in the signal that's specific to the Freeview Plus functionality.

It doesn't happen on an older FreeviewHD TV I have on the same aerial, thats using the older EPG.

I've had an HWT260 since June and have never seen the problem, however I rarely watch live via the PVR but rather use the TV tuner or mySky. HWT260 recording playback has been flawless.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Yes, the problem only occurs when watching live TV through the HWT260. Recordings play back fine, as does on demand content.

Call Panasonic NZ support line and explain you're having the problem as seen in this thread; it's a known problem.

The more people that report it, the more likely a fix.

I have this afternoon connected my unit in the bedroom where we have a TV that has Freeview Plus. That TV has had no issues at all and is connected to a different antenna to that in the lounge. The Panasonic has been getting black screens. So, in the lounge we had black screens and freezes and now in the bedroom on different antenna and environment.

The last time I spoke to Panasonic I was advised to keep a log of when the black screen events were observed, what channel, and whether changing to another major channel grouping (e.g. from TV1 to TV3) helped.

I've already sent some through, but since there's been no progress I'll be restarting that again.

For others dealing with this issue, that might help them trouble shoot this, and get some hard incidence data to deal with.

That seems pretty conclusive.

I guess it could still be something specific to this run of Panasonic hardware that's being affected by the broadcast signal, but that's still firmly the responsibility of Panasonic and Freeview/Kordia to sort out and fix.

Out of interest, how recent and what brand is the FreeviewPlus TV? (i.e. is it Panasonic?)

Our non Freeview Plus TV (lounge) is a Panasonic VT65,  the Freeview Plus TV (bedroom) is a Samsung and is a couple of months old. Our BWT760 is about four months old maybe less.

I am sure it's a firmware issue in the Panasonic units

Yeah I definitely think it's Freeview Plus that's responsible. I posted in the other thread (the random black screen one, can't link to it cause new user restrictions) that once I disabled Freeview Plus the problem went away and it has never happened again. Don't know why but that is what did it for me. It's not so much a problem for me because my TV does Freeview Plus and I don't really use it much anyway.

Mine starting happening tonight only when the unit was recording and I was watching another channel live. I think its a hardware issue.
