I've been bumbling along with my Samsung 3 series 32" LCD, Full HD, FreeView screen, with a classic JVC VCR(!), Sony PS2 and the non-All Blacks branded Philips DVD player (at least it supports DivX!).
I do have a Windows 7 based Media Centre PC, but it's been relegated to the bedroom...
So having a MyFreeview|HD Magic TV would finally relegate the VCR to the rubbish bin!
The commander in chief has been weaned onto Freeview through a modest little Digistar box. Our LG VCR has finally expired this weekend. She said, “I don’t think we need another VCR. Wouldn’t it be great if we could record one programme while watching another on that little Freeview thing?” I said, “It would be Magic!”
I just have a basic old SD TV and a DVD player but if I won I think I'd have to fork out and buy a new HDTV! I also have a TV Tuner in my laptop which I sometimes watch Freeview on.
As with else I would love to win this one it may sound reedy as we already have Mi-ski HDI which i have on my HD vera widescreen tv, But my large old SOny trinitron upstairs would definetely benefit from having a proper signal and mean that i am not fighting my children to watch tv on my tv downstairs , so i can watch criminal minds on one , heartland on 7 and TVNZ in peace in my room , whilst the kids watch Cartoon network down stairs , assuming my son doesnt pilfer it for his smaller 20 inch in his room Must admit everyone in our house has their own tv, with associated either xbox 360 or playstation , we admit it we are a gadget geek family , so I WOULD DEFINETLY LOVE TO WIN THIS ONE
We currently have a single tuner satellite PVR but this obviously can not record freeview HD with the better picture or 5.1 sound. Have honestly only heard good things about this box so would love to enter the competition. Cheers Freitasm.
We have a Panasonic PTAE-4000 projecting onto a 130" 2.35:1 screen. A Denon AVR-790 is hooked into a set of 5.1 Diamond 9 speakers, with a PS3 and Wii connected for Blu-ray and gaming :-) Currently we can only watch Freeview in the other room on our Sony 46" Z series TV, so the ability to watch on the big screen in the theatre room (and record!) would be awesome!
I would like to win a Magic MTV3600TD as we have only just entered the digital age and finally brought a nice 40" HD LCD TV. Being able watch Freeview HD is absolutely wonderful, but being able to record in HD would be even better!
We don't have MySkyHDI as we've been hanging out for TelstraClear to get their act together and release their DVR. Having the Magic MTV3600TD will help out while we wait, and wait, and wait some more, and then add another couple of months on that waiting, then wait some more again, for TelstraClear to finally release it.
Let me list the reasons I need a Freeview Magic more than the rubbish Sky box I have now. 1. I cannot use Sky from May until August due to rain fade. 2. After the sky finally clears, the on-screen menus on the receiver shake until I have a seizure or I power-cycle it. 3. It has a habit of "misunderstanding" it's own remote. I press up-volume and it changes channels! I do not want 2! 4. It is really picky about which line filters it likes, but I have a theory about this.* 5. It has a strange affinity for channel 2. Every time I press a button, it wants to go to 2. I do NOT want to watch Desperate Housewives! Will you just do what I say for god's sake!
*I think that this Sky receiver is from a previous era, when satellites and massive motorola cellphones ruled the day. I think that Sky box is actually jealous of the internet, and how happy the internet makes me... Sky box sits there thinking, plotting... "WTF, I'm in here with rain fade while they balance a laptop on the coffee table and they download Flight of The Conchords from iTunes... oh yah... take this!" [updates system, internet connection dies] Then I'm in the next room yelling "&@$& Sky box I hate you!" and I get a different line filter, which doesn't help at all... and Sky box just sits there snickering "heh heh heh... you think you're so smart, Internet"
Please. Your awesome HD Magic probably won't be as happy at my house connected to my meagre 27" TV, but it would be so awesome to stick it to this rubbish Sky box!! I promise to buy a cooler TV if I win!
We have a DVD player plugged into the TV to watch our DVD collection.
We also have this cool media box thing. This lets us plug portable hard drives into it so we can watch "videos", listen to music and look at pictures.
We have a collection of laptops at our place too, a few work ones and a personal one. We are planning on getting one of them fancy laptop to tv cords so we can watch youtube and other stuff from our laptops.
We have Telecom broadband so a TVIO would go GREAT in our place.
The Lounge has a Sony Bravia 32" LCD with built in Freeview. Connected to this is an Xbox 360. I use the xbox as a media extender for WMC running on a PC in another room.
I'm lacking a way to record TV at the moment. I was thinking of getting a USB tuner and using WMC to do the recording but this looks too fiddly for the non geeks of the household so The Magic would be magic :)
A 32 inch with analog tv signal still :( - just waiting on the freeview tuner. WD TVLive media player, DVD and Pioneer AV Amp with cheap warfdale speakers - gets more music than tv. Projector in the study with cheap DVD/HT surround setup - came with the house. Thanks!
