the Manufacturer asked for samples of recordings as it crashed he had problems withnthe forst one i sent him as it was too big i sent him a shorter one on monday but havnt had any coms with him since.

the first firmware update he sent did improve reception strength and added wellinton to the time zones but diddnt touch the auto tune problem or the crashing.

does anybody know how the zinwell's etc get thier updates over the air just wondering if this process is sumhow responsable for the resets...

have tried a 110 volt stepdown incase it was poor powersupply design around our 230 volts diddnt help.

i will give this guy a chase tomorrow after 4 as thats about when he comes online. and if i dont get any response i am going to send one of my units back ( got a telecom tivo for $360 at $10 a month this has taken the presure off this for me)

Cheers

Legitimate Freeview boxes obtain their software updates via OTA (over the air) updates.  Basically a data service that's broadcast, transmitting the software on a continuous carousel

I was wondering what format they were in and potentialy if the Magnavox boxs could be reacting to seeing a file of similar format just a thought. the file i had sent to me was called
MTC_MSD7828_DH2836.AP (3748KB)
and since lots of these decoders are built around similar chipsets and potentaily use similar file structures it may be worth asking the manufacturer, but i dont know what the ones on air look like or anything.
anybody know what the over the air file extentions are. .bin .ap or other ??
Cheers

That is great news. I prefer to have a fixed firmware, rather than sent it back, having nothing..

FWIW: Just an update, from their last (To their credit, very prompt) Email I got back from them confirming their refund to me, they state... "Unfortunately we have been unable to resolve the issue with the firmware of this item" suggesting they may have given up and are possibly now waiting for any remaining units to be returned to them...

It's been a bit quiet on here for these Maganvox boxes. Has everyone else sent theirs back?

Wade, do you have an update from the supplier or is it looking less likely that a solution will be found? Thanks.

Yes it has been too long. Will probably send mine back next week after getting the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge out of the way. I'm riding a frame bought from 1-Day's parent company so am hoping it will not crash half way round! Wink
