afcnz: Glad to hear 1.4c is stable so far smelck. A week without a hitch is a long time for this unit.

Still haven't heard back from dishTV about my original unit and I'm not prepared to update the loaner. Speaking of which do these updates back-fill? e.g. can you put 1.4c straight over 1.48? Normally you would, but with this you never know.

@Donna - did you get a copy of 1.48? I have it around here somewhere if you didn't.

Yes same as normal , straight install (EDIT: I wouldn't think you'd need 1.4b - see my reply to Donna below)

You're right a week without issues is a long time for this unit...maybe...possibly they have got it right. We'll soon know by watching how quick the next one comes...

While getting some new features would be good (how nice would a flexible time skip facility be)....I'm kinda hoping while it's working they leave it alone ...lol :)

As far as I know you should be able to do this (you do with pretty much everything else that updates firmware)...so I see no logical reason why you'd have to install every firmware release since the one you have...and besides if this was the case they would:

(a) advise you of this in the notes
(b) provide a back catalogue of firmware updates...

Is this one being broadcast OTA??? ....

If your unit fails to boot after the OTA of 14C you will need to follow the following steps

Please power your unit off fully. Press and hold the left hand Vol button on the front panel keep this held down while powering the unit back up. On the front display it should read LOAD then ERAS, you can now let the button go. After about 30sec your unit should start up, just set your region and press OK, this will scan your channels back in and you should be all go again.

Anyone been having dramas with series linked recordings dropping off. Latest firmware updated via OTA last week since then I have repeatedly had to reset all the series linked shows.
Now SBS has gone and choice has started on terrestrial it could be time to go buy TiVo?

I've had no SBS most of the week and neither has a friend of mine who also has a 7090. I don't know if it's anything to do with the 7090 though. My 7090 seems to be behaving itself more than before though I think I did have to rebook some series this week. I can turn onto a channel to watch it and I find that it is recording it when I didn't even set it to record

SBS has gone permanently. Apparently it is now using fibre for Tasmania. SO for me I am retiring my satellite recorder and just using Tivo

yep the 7090 has lost any edge it ever had with the departure of the aussie channels.
its just too finicky to put up with now that edge has gone

I have to be fair to Dish TV, because since I installed the 1.4B (and then the 1.4C) and posted on 4 April I have not had a single problem, either with recording or with our big previous problem the recording of subtitles. They worked with me to overcome all the issues they were having, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. I hope you all are able to sort out your particular issues as well.

Yes to be fair I've found that the problems I had before the 14c have been ironed out and I haven't had programs finishing before they're supposed to. I still love it!

latest update appears to have fixed the problem using a Dragon CAM and Sky card as well. No intermittent descrambling problems anymore

went to watch Porridge on Cue last night as dont use much since sbs has gone. The picture was dark so went to menu and user settings to adjust brightness. The brightness is set on 50%. I could not adjust any settings. Had been able to many firmwares ago but cant. Anyone else able to on theirs.

I noticed the firmware is 14c so it must have done it automatically ota as I never updated it to that myself

I don't know if you have noticed but there is a new manual on the S7090 page, Version 4. It describes how to alter the settings by using the right arrow and the Yellow and Blue buttons. I tried to change the brightness and it worked fine.

ah thanks. Didnt think to check for a new manual. Checked my manual after failing to change brightness and was doing it exactly as the manual said. So now off to download the new manual. Thanks
