Hi new to the forums as a poster..but have been lurking for a while.

Purchased an s7090 about 8 weeks ago....and am on box number 2 after a hard-drive decided to die..

Had a lot of issues with it since purchase, many of which have been discussed in other threads..in particular issues with non-recording, freezes, particularly when back to back recording...the first firmware 1.23 didn't  fix this, but the change-log for 1.26 lists a lot of fixes, including the one I mentioned....so we shall see...

One nice addition is resume play , something that was sorely missed.

Really quite a buggy box on release..and have been close to taking it back...but we shall see if the attention to fix patches continues as we go forward.

Alas..another firmware and already issues....

Recording Titanic on 3.....which started successfully , but is giving me no signal on a large number of channels...can watch 1 and 2 without issue....the recording is going fine if I watch it , so there is a signal...just won't let me watch some channels live while it records.

Will check to see if the channnels come back when the recording stops..but will be ringing Dish TV tomorrow.

So over this PVR tbh. Went the satellite route as the dish was cabled up , but there is a UHF aerial on the roof, so may well re-cable it up and go terrestrial.....

If your recording something of freeview, you cant watch any of the oz channels as they are on a different polarity , nothing to do with the PVR, its the LNB it cant read both pols at once, but as with most things there is a work around this

Hi, ta for the response...

Am aware of that. Was recording TV3, and couldn't watch any of the non TVNZ freeview channels (i.e could only watch 1,2, u MTV and TVNZ 7)...

Really weird but came right after the recording of Titanic on TV 3 finished..

I had a look at the EPG and noticed that the TV3 plus 1 had Titanic linked as well , which either my wife did not realising that she had already linked it to record on TV3 or it just linked it by itself when she did the actual TV3 link...

The channels went out at about the time the delayed (+1 hour) recording was due to start , although it did't record it twice...

makes me think something funky is going on as I'm sure my wife wouldn't link the movie twice on both TV3 and the plus 1....but then we have had similar issues with series linking and getting omnibus recordings etc when we dont want them...

anyway..sorry if this a little garbled, I'm wouldn't call myself an technological expert, but I'm pretty up to speed and it was strange the channels that went out were the  ones on the same transponder.

Thanks for the response though...have e.mailed Dish TV about it..

Yeah I thought that....

Checked the loop cable was in correctly ...all good

did a recording check and recorded TV1 and TV3 simultaneously and was able to watch all freeview channels no issue...

I dunno..a one off glitch ?? But for me I think it is associated with some EPG linking issue and the +1 channel......just speculating, but will see what Dish TV say.

Again cheers for the response....crikey hopefully not the need for box number 3, but if that was the case then as said time for a new PVR solution.

It's an older sky dish install..not an expert sorry but have checked some threads on here and found some pics on bartenders blog and then checked the dish.its an old style sharp lnb (earlier sky install)

Cheers for the help you may have to educate me if the issue is related to the LNB..that said I have had no similar issues losing signal prior to this firmware, just some freezes and non recording..many of them linked to back to back recording issues which this firmware is supposed to fix (according to the changelog)...

Been issue free for the last 2 days...but had a play today and noticed that anything linked to record on TV 3 is also linking on the plus 1 channel....supporting what happened with Titanic the other night and my speculation on if my wife linking it twice.

There is no way to un-link the Plus 1 without losing the channel 3 link...

I'm pretty sure that the channel loss glitch is linked to this...The loss happened exactly an hour after the channel 3 Titanic started and the Plus 1 one was due to start and came right at the end of the record...

Sorry to harp on about this..just interested if I'm the only one with this issue and if it's the firmware or box..

Cheers

Might be worth trying to record again on 3 and see if it glitches again in relation to plus1, if so let dish tv know

Not a problem with TiVo, Magic3600 or Zinwell ZMT640, all of which feature series link.

TiVo will select TV3+1, however, if both tuners have other conflicting recordings scheduled.

I am pretty sure that this is a normal response to booking a program on TV3. Through the MHEG-5 software the receiver realises that the program appears twice and so marks both channels in the EPG for recording. Providing you don't book another recording at the same time as the TV3 booking, it will always record that one and drop the TV3+1 booking.

Should you book a recording at the same time as the TV3 recording, it will automatically use the TV3+1 channel to record your program.

I can't see how this could cut off your other channels. My father has the S7090 and he never has this issue when recording TV3. In fact he often records two channels at once, say TV3 and TV1, with no issues.
