Samsung hd-ready LCD from around 3 years ago, buttons too low so the kids keep changing channels on me. Yamaha AV Receiver with Wharfedale speakers. Modded 1st gen. XBOX which is networked to a QNAP NAS which holds all our music, movies, photos etc. MySky HDi, although I've recently downgraded to free-to-air only as I was only using the sky channels to watch sport and it's all on free-to-air now anyway. I'll turn it back on during cricket season. There's a DVD recorder there somewhere but I don't use it. All tied together with a harmony remote to keep the wife happy.

Nice comp Supreme Bean!!! The MagicTV would be a welcome addition for comparison to the Tivo :-)

My 42inch Hyundai plasma is a little dated, but the picture is excellent. I don't have Freeview, so if i could win this i would be pretty happy!

Yes I still have one to record TV to. We just do not record programmes anymore and I would so love to be able to record again without having to track down an empty tape. I read you can even tape a programme and watch another at the same time. That would be just the ticket for Shortland Street and The Crowd goes Wild. Of course it is the one on Prime I watch

Also the VHS player just does not look right against the Panasonic 50G10 Plasma, Denon 3806 Receiver, Mission speakers and a Wii.

it'd be awesome! i have rubbish TV reception but the one time I borrowed a freeview STB it was brilliant! I've got a 40" sony TV and a WDTV live and an xbox 360, fine for me but the wife complains!

Well I only have a two year old Sony 37'' 1080i HD TV + one of the early Zinwell Freeview HD tuners + standard DVD player. No stereo, no home theatre, no media centre, no Apple TV...:-(

My wife gave me a max size that the TV could occupy in our lounge and 40" was too big. Luckily I found one of the last 37" screens around.

I am still blown away by how good a top HD picture can look and it was fun telling my Sky owning friends about all the free to air TV shows in HD that they couldn't get through Sky - not sure if that is fixed now on Sky.

Due to the excellent content on Maori, C4, TVNZ 6 & 7 and Prime, and with the Football World Cup on FTA, I just haven't felt the need for Sky.

But the one thing I'd love is to be able to record stuff I miss - so the HD Magic would be just the ticket thanks very much. Plus my Zinwell is looking a bit crappy sitting on the floor on top of the DVD player.

Whoah, the magic looks NICE!.

I have a very very old 34' crt Sony, but I loves it, with a WDTVlive, which is a magnificent little machine. Soundwise we have a rag-tag collective made up of a a simple sony receiver/amp, a couple of Wharfdale monitors for the centre, the stand alone tv speakers at front and a pair of mighty B+W P6's at the rear (particularly nice when using the WDTV to play music). rounded off with a Panasonic harddrive/dvd, which does the job...but really doesn't get used as much as I would like as the interface is rather poor.

Whilst an upgrade TV/recorder is definately overdue the one thing I really wish I had is...freeview!.

We have a rather outdated "Home Theatre" system which would really benefit from this addition. We do have an early freeview receiver but have found it to be a pain with constant "poweer resets" required to bring back to life.

What a wonderful thing it would be to have the ability to record the odd programme as well.

Would go well with the Panasonic 42". definately an upgrade from the Kaon Satelite receiver currently being used. Have definately been wanting a Magic box to replace the old Sony DVD recorder.

Our family has a hand-me-down 26" CRT. It recently replaced our 12 year old 21" CRT. We added a UHF aerial for Prime, but reception is terrible. Sound is via a 12 yr old mini-stereo with 2 bookshelf speakers.

A 2nd hand Sony DVR is our token member of the 21st century!

Well as I build PVRs its always interesting to get an up close and personal view of the competition.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

Phwoar, one of these would be stellar, can't believe i didn't see this thread until now. I have only recently moved from an NTSC TV i got given by some friends so a nice tuner box would be the cherry on the top for sure.

It would be awesome to add this to my 42" Plasma in my room. I was using a Xbox to stream content from my NAS except it decided to red ring. I thought about using a old computer I had laying around but it wouldn't do HD Content. It also can get annoying having to go into the lounge and book up shows on MySky only to have a flatmate delete it the next day before you have watched it.

Ah well, my 2c.

Hi,

Thanks for a chance at this great prize.
We have a Panasonic 42" plasma, Pioneer vsx-515 receiver with Wharfedale speakers, Sony hdmi dvd player, Mysky hdi and playstation 2 in the lounge. Also have the computer at other end of lounge connected up to stream music,video etc.

In the bedroom we have an old Sony 25" crt, Pioneer dv-676a and a Sony vcr connected to another computer, which has a Hauppauge hvr-4000 tv tuner for freeview through Mediaportal.
