What i did notice was that it does not always record what you have got in scheduled recordings ,
like this morning it suppose to record milly, molly on channel 7 , i did select all episodes and it did not record it ,
its not even in the Record Booked List any more , just disapeared ( yesterday it was still in" the list "!!! , happened before !
Anybody else noticed that ?

AKLWestie: the audio and video gets out of sync.

So I pause the playback, wait for a sec or two and resume, the problem usually goes away. However, the problem persists and I need to rewind a bit, then playback, then it is all OK.

I left a message with DishTV so hopefully they can pick this up.

Anyone of you having the same problem?

Seen this too on the odd occasion.

I have noticed things going missing from the recording list too sometimes. But I had put it down to the fact that I had done a rescan on all channels.

the new beta firmware improves the persistent glitching with recording tvnz by solving a "timing problem" but only up to 35mn mark of the recording (they said).

but it does this at the expense of the audio/video sync, seemingly.

i'll go back to the 9th June firmware and wait for them to sort it out as i had no real problems - Except for recording TVNZ in HD when it became unwatchable. Fortunately i've only ever needed to do that once.

are you guys getting that black screen +/- 2 ms Every few minutes? Its hardly noticable. but its there. even just with epg on the screen.

Yes i did notice that too just ones in a while !

Takes a long time for the new FW update to be finalised !!!
must be a "super" new one , takes them that long !!

Just got an email from DishTV, apparently New firmware will be released on the site this week. SO keep your eyes open :-)

I will keep my eyes open, fingers crossed and toes crossed.

Hopefully the new firmware fixes all the problems

You know I'm getting sick of reading stories like this, where companies are basically releasing these products to market and then letting that same market do half of their commissioning/testing work for them.

Far too many of these boxes (not just this brand) have very similar problems with recording, to the point that you wonder if they really tested all this properly in the first place. It seems to be the usb connected drives that give problems every time, with only some working with a particular hardware combination etc.

It really is looking like you're better to stick with the brand names, but in freeview satellite terms there really isn't any real brand name like sony/panasonic/samsung etc, they're just not in that field. In terrestrial terms everything is very expensive from a big player brand, and incorperates a bluray player as well. Maybe things will change when the analogue DVD/HDD units become basically redundant after the analogue switch off?

Well, I thought it was a nice/good thing to buy a NZ designed product (not sure whether it is NZ made) to support our domestic economy, that was one of the reasons I bought this unit. However, I am lost on words in terms of the support we are getting. As you said, I am not sure what sort of testing they have done. I am very disappointed.
