So will the pvr f/w allow the ET to work as a way of playing back content from usb hdd obtained elsewhere? (I have in mind to locate a NAS device close to the tv. I can put content onto this and then play it via the usb connection). Buying a Netgear ReadyNAS Diskless Duo Gigabit

I also have a Philips dvd player that accepts usb which can be used as the player, but I want to minimise the number of remotes and inputs required - I'm sure you know the problem of seemingly self-replicating remotes!!? :)

The ET only plays back its own files. It wont look at anything else.
I also had a really hard time getting the files to play back on my PC - though other people reported it was ok. Cant recall the file types off hand.
I dont think there would be any way your Philips DVD would look at the files - though of course I understand where you are coming from.

What you really want is one of these (http://www.tvix.co.nz/_product_38969/TViX_6500_Dual_Tuner)

I just noticed there is a new firmware update (28/08/09) for the Visione model available at http://www.visione-newzealand.co.nz/downloads, but no sign of a new version for the ET at the usual places. It was previously found that the Visione firmware doesn't work for the ET, but hope that this indicates some further work is continuing.

InspectorGadget - any insider info?

Archprime - I suspect no one has responded to you request for latest links as they are already in the last few pages

Hi - I checked again & still found no links to latest BIOS version in previous posts - did you spot one?

This was the version that never seemed to get posted on any of the official support sites - it came later - one of the other kind users on this forum got it mailed to him - Seems ok - depending on whether your ET box hardware was ok I think.

No further updates I'm afraid. I think this is the end of the ET suport unless anyone hears otherwise. The only new ones available are old stock floating around from what I can see on the net.

Hi Thanks for that.

Dor some reason my ET box seems no longer able to update to any other bios - not even the roll back version.

Using the same USB thubdrive that always worked before, now whenever I power up the box and hold a buton down, the box never reports that booting from USB device as previously - just sits on "Boot" for about a minute, before displaying"chec"

Could the previous PVR update have disables all subsequent BIOS updates?

Can anyone verify models of thumbdrives that work.. as I too have tried a few different ones in the past with no luck. I know there is a certain required file structure and format specified which I adhered to.

But I definitely upgraded/downgraded and upgraded (just to test) and the process seemed to work fine - so I dont think they disabled anything in the releases. Try another USB drive I think.

Did you make sure that the folder AS_HK_DMB_UPDATE was in the root of the USB flash drive with the *.lwpb and *.ini files underneath?

I'd guess that if the ET doesnt see the folder/files in the right place it will just ignore the USB drive.

You did unzip the update files and extract them to the flash drive ok?

Hi - yes unzipped AS_HK_DMB_UPDATE folder correctly into an otherwise empty fat 32 formatted thumbdrive, and inside that folder are the *.lwpb and *.ini files

Don't understand why it stopped working. Was there much of a change between previous PVR version and the current one?

One thing that is odd with previous one is that although I can access Prime TV via epg, it is not recignized as an enumerated channel - even when I reset to defaults & scan channels again. Is this a known issue?

Ive been using a Toshiba thumb drive and it has worked fine. I have also gone in both directions with firmware and i am currently using november version. Had no problems picking up prime and its fine on the epg as well. Anoying that its on channel ten though... been so used to it on channel 9 on my tv ;-)
