Tracymac: Has anyone experienced certain highly used buttons on the remote not working effectively.  I Have to press the play and fast forward buttons really hard to get them to work.

Just googled a new remote and looks like around $40 to replace.

Hi i have a MTV3600  and lately the buttons on my remote control started getting very non responsive , any suggestions ?

Are there any universal remotes that work well with magictv ?

Harmony remotes work well ,  however pulling apart the remote and washing the rubber pad with soap and water, drying it an reinstalling will buy some time too.  it gets a sort of oil on it , taking that away has it working like new.

Procedure is , locate harmony remote you can buy that day, do not purchase

Pull apart std remote with the confidence if it smashes you can get a replacment because its a fine line :)

wash (the rubber pad )  , dry the whole remote removing oil from any other surfaces (tissue) and put back together .  it will be 10x better , 95% as good as brand new .

one of the lads uses the dish washer to clean the rubber pad

I know the 3700 can be controlled via iOS and Android devices, might be worth a look as there's some cheap options out there.

no such option currently for the 3600  , much as i would like.   Having said that the Galaxy S4 has an infrared sender built in , apart from the fact it will be 1200  instead of 40   still
looks like a bargain to me ;)

I had the same problem recently with the remote becoming unresponsive. I replaced the batteries and now it is as good as new. Might be worth a try before pulling the remote apart. Cheers...

Hi Guys I too have suffered from this problem but Im sure this fix was mentioned here on the forum but  try the following ...

over time the highly used buttons seem to develop some sort of residue build up ... simple fix gentally { and I mean gentally } remove the back cover plate to the remote ... it is held on with one screw under the battery cover { remove batteries} and four small plastic tags located around the remote .... once this plate is removed remove the PCB { printed circuit board } turn it over so you can have a good look at the non functioning buttons you will probably see a small "film"/residue build up on the solder joints give this a very good clean with a lint free cloth to remove the residue ... then take an old school rubber { eraser } and give the solder joints a good polish ... this helps clean the joint up , also remove any residue from the white plastic buttons { im sure it shows up as a black residue on the white button plate } once its all clean reassemble the remote ... I have done this a couple of times and its fixed it straight away ... hope that helps .

cheers
andrew W
