I just have a 29inch Panasonic CRT which is about 6 years old with a Sony 5.1 surround amplifier driving 5.1 Yamaha speakers and sub. I'm looking to upgrade to Magic TV and 40inch LCD in near future - I am thinking one from the Sony Bravia EX400 series. LED tv's look great but bit pricy still.

We researched carefully for several months (and saved hard) and now have a 46" Samsung LED TV (Series 7 UA46C7000) with a Samsung home theatre (HT-C5550). Even though we live in a fringe UHF area, after installing a high-gain UHF aerial and the best coaxial (and a half day of crawling through the ceiling and under the house), we have an absolutely fantastic picture – why didn’t we do this earlier!? (We had been suffering with a 24” CRT waiting for it to die.) The home theatre sound is much better than we had expected and watching TV or movies is truly now like being in a theatre. However, when we record any TV programs, we have to record on our 5-6 year old low-res Panasonic hard-drive recorder. As well as being non-HD, it’s a grainy picture, as I’ve had to resort to the old VHF aerial and standard TV stations. We are now saving for a Magic TV DVR as it’s sacrilege to have such a good TV and display such a bad picture with our recordings. It would be mind-blowing for the family if you guys were to help us out with the final piece (the piece de resistance). Thanks J

Home Theatre Setup ... If you close your eyes and squint you can sort of call it that.

Samsung 32"(LA32R81B)

Sony DVD Recorder (RDRGX220)

Sanyo VCR (That's right you read correct, I'm still rocking the VCR)

All sitting on top of a black MDF box with lovely grey tinted glass door with magnetic catches.

And last but not least, a set of bent Rabbit Ears for reception as I'm waiting on the UHF aerial to be installed.

She's a low tech setup but for the moment it does the job and would certainly be helped out through the inclusion of a Magic TV freeview unit.

I am currently watchin an aging Toshiba 32" hooked up to a Digistar 811U Satellite freeview box fed from a 90cm dish.

I have a great home for the prize at my sister's in Ngaruawahia to replace her Sony analogue HDD recorder before they switch off the analogue signal. Of course she will finally have to do something about her aerial!

40" LCD TV with a PS3, HDD Recoder (SD not HD) and the stereo, nothing too special really. Would be a nice addition.

We got 32" Sony Bravia S model connected to Hunday HD box having dual connections to UHF terrestial and satellite. In addition Wii is connected hopefully it will become a media centre one day.

I would like it so I can record freeview programs again on my:
Samsung 37" LCD, HTPC for streaming videos to my PS3, Onkyo reciever and wharfdhale speakers and I used to have a DVD recorder(disc only) but sold it to buy Red Dead Redemption, now I have no recording....oops

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

I've an old Sony CRT HR36 TV. Big as a house and requires half a football team to move but the picture quality is fantastic. It's connected to a Saturn cable set top box and an old DVR.
I was one of the suckers who bought an HD TV before HDMI came out so no HD for me so far. I need to drag myself into the current century and besides her indoors has been mumbling about a flatscreen TV that doesn't take up half the lounge. So an HD PVR (with componet out at 1080i) would possibly extend the life of the TV for a while.

It would be fantastic to add freeview HD to the TV viewing. Currently only Freeview Sat on a Toshiba TV. Probably need to upgrade TV as well. The minister of finance had been rejecting the proposal for the last 6 months. So maybe this will tip the ROI! Let me WIN.

Old Samsung 43" rear projection TV bought from Trademe with bad convergence for $66. Gave it a tuneup in the service menu and she runs cherry. Actually accepts a 1080i signal from offbrand FreeviewHD STB (Diginet) purchased from 1-day for $140. PVR capability via a cast-off 60GB laptop HDD and a USB adapter. Only one tuner though, so I can only watch a different channel than I'm recording if it's on the same MUX. Poor me - would love a dual-tuner PVR so I can record something more interesting than the 'emotionally confused woman doctor' shows that my wife is interested in.

For my viewing pleasure and much to the confusion of my wife ( the kids can work it out) I have;

Tivo
Sky Digital (Sport)
Philips Home Theatre system in a box
Oppo DVD player
Popcorn hour

Complemented with a 42" Pany Plasma

The only thing missing is the PRIME & Maori EPG which the Magic TV could provide! Yay!

H,

I have a Hyundai AH-3110 combined HD Satellite and Terrestrial Receiver which is great for surfing through the satellite and Terrestrial channels in any order I choose. My 90cm Satellite Dish has 3 LNB's for Optus D1, D2 and C1/D3 so no delays switching channels.

This is connected to a 36 inch CRT Television screen which needs 3 people to shift. The TV is one of the few CRT type TV screens that supports Component cable connection 576p HD for Freeview Terrestrial and SBS HD via D1 - great for watching the world cup!

While the TV has a 5 speaker system built in I use a Panasonic Home Cinema SC-PT470Gn-K for better sound quality from the Satellite Receiver with a Digital Audio cable connection.

One day I'll update the TV to LCD LED but for now my 50-60kg TV does the job - who would steal it when it's that heavy?

Currently using an ageing Sony 48" rear projection TV, connected to a Philips DVD recorder.
A freeview HD appliance would be the perfect reason to "upgrade" to a large HD TV ;-)

Hiya,

The MyFreeview|HD Magic TV would be a fantastic way to start a digital television revolution in our house. We have a dunger of tv and the reception is awful. We are being tantalised by a cable attached to a satelite dish but no where to put the jack... As a family with four young children this sort of purchase is way beyond our means.
