Elgin:

Has anyone tried using the File Transfer feature?

I needed to free up come space on the internal hard drive, so I copied some programs using "File Transfer: SATA to USB" onto an external USB drive.

Before the copy, I formatted the USB drive from the "Media Info" menu.

After the files had been copied to the USB drive, I selected "File Transfer: USB to SATA" and it responded with "No records". So the files that were just transferred to the USB drive cannot be moved back to the internal drive!

When I select USB playback, I am able to play the (SD) files that I copied, but there is no sound. If I attempt to play an HD file the T2200 hangs.

Yes I have transferred recordings via USB to a usb stick.  I had no problems.  Because you can only play what was transferred to the usb stick with another Dish TV unit, I had to then transferred it to my computer and changed the video format into a compatible one so my daughter can play it on her tv using her tv's usb input.  She had forgotten to record a programme from Prime and as Prime does not do TV on Demand, this was the only way she could have watch her programme.  She does not have a Dish TV unit only a tivo.

My t2200 seems to be working okay since I got a replacement. We still have our Tivo, but its missing all the programming stuff, but its definitely easier to use and I do miss its great user experience.

Does anyone have any idea of what mods can be done to keep the TiVo working as a Freeview recording with EPG, etc etc. Is there such a thing or should I just get on and used to the T2200.

Thanks

Have a look on the forum for tivo users here below.

There are a few people on there that can do the mod for you.

We have all had our Tivos modded and they are working the same as before with full EPG everything.

LOL - Ive been told repeatedly by The makers of T2200, that i CANNOT record repeats of programmes I do want to record.  (its designed to not re-record a duplicate programme).

Right now i'm watching the recordings i have and now seeing a repeat of a programme ive just seen/finished.

i wish it did that for the ones i do want to re-watch..

Sometimes you get caught out as well due to what the broadcaster pushes out through the EPG data.  Classic example is Taskmaster on Duke.  This week the 'Champions of Champions' series is on which is screened over two nights (Thursday and Friday).  Left alone our T2200 was never going to record the Friday episode as TVNZ somehow managed to tag them as the same "episode".  Fortunately we happened to watch it last night and once deleted cleared the path for the second episode to record.

The other example is The Nation on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  The Sunday broadcast is a repeat BUT has an extended panel discussion to fill in the extra 8 or so minutes due to there being no advertisements unlike Saturday.  The T2200 naturally records the first Saturday broadcast but TV3 tag them as the same episode which 'technically' I understand but if not deleted on Saturday it doesn't record the longer Sunday broadcast.

Thanks Steve. I will investigate the forum you provided - Happy New Year.

Ive come home today & finding my REGULAR tv shows are not being recorded.

("LOOKING FOR REPEAT EVENTS") and its on tonight in an hour or so...   I had to manually re-record it to record the series...

Do any of you check DAILY to see if your programmes are going to record ?

Ive been in contact recently with the T2200 staff & we need to MANUALLY delete our programmes - I watched/deleted a lot of episodes over the weekend.

( I'm hoping TIVO comes back, I miss my TIVO )

it could be because the details in the EPG have changed and the box cant find the programe now.

it could be available on demand if you do miss it

It won't come back unless you get your old tivo modded if you still have it.

After they are modded its just like they were before the shutdown with full guide everything !!

Its the best thing I ever did was getting mine modded.

I also have a T2200 but don't use it at all, I see the t2200 turning itself on and off at times, very strange...

I second that. Get your old TIVO modified if you still have it. Like a few people here I bought a T2200.
Although it works ok - no problems yet, I do much prefer the user interface and set up of TIVO.
Must be old age - you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. But the old dog knows what he likes..:-)

I gave my Tivo away.

I'm computer-programing minded - but not technically minded to fix/repair the tivo.
