I have down-graded to v1.40 and can confirm that the Dolby Digital output over HDMI is working again.

I tried everything that I could short of a full factory reset to get it working with v1.42 to no avail.

In the case of On Demand audio, the work around in v1.40 is to select PCM output before starting the on demand app.

Groucho:

Generally, is the outputted audio of on demand only supposed to be two channel stereo or is it meant to be 5.1?  I've tried a couple of programmes (NCIS LA being one) which broadcasts as 5.1 but on demand is only 2.0.

The on demand apps only output PCM (not AC3) so they can only output 2.0 (not 5.1) sound.

In the new Freeview ondemand app on the dish TV has anybody having issues with the search.
The search works perfectly, however you cant view the search text you are typing in, it just doesn't show up anyware, it's obviously being used as the shows matching what you type in come up.

Noticed last night it now works correctly and I can see my search terms.

Now if they could just work on the sound cutting out all the time it might become usable

I am trying to use the samsung smart remote to control the T2200.  I can change channel and go to the menu but I have no way of going to the schedule or the library.

Does anyone know how this can be done?  Can any of the color keys be programmed to do this?

I don't know about the Samsung remote but if you are looking for a good universal remote, I can recommend the Harmony 650. It works well and is easy to program.

I bought my parents the Harmony 650 and works well with their T2200 - and all their other devices.  Personally I went the opposite way and bought Dish TV's Learning Remote which I programmed some buttons to drive some TV functions such as power and volume.  The TV is connected to my receiver via HDMI so all interconnected and works well for me with one remote controlling three devices for watching TV/Freeview On Demand services.

I'm running V01.42 and notice that when I select EPG/Guide sometimes I get the new weekly EPG (black screen) and sometimes I get the MHEG EPG (white screen). However, I can't find a way of getting from one to the other. It seems to be completely random, one time weekly EPG and then the MHEG.

If I'm getting MHEG EPG and select APPS/Portal I'll get the old DishTV portal page. Oherwise if I'm getting the weekly EPG I get the new On Demand page.

I've just been doing some checks while I write this and it randomly stopped giving me the MHEG EPG and started to give me the weekly EPG. However, about 10 mins before I started the box did lock up and then reset itself.

Strange and clearly something not quite right. Any clues?

Pete

@doubletop

I am having exactly the same issues and is frustrating as you're never quite sure which EPG is going to load.  Wish the APPS button would natively load the new Freeview OnDemand platform rather than the individual apps from the old portal page.  Seems a bit of an oversight that the fully overhauled on demand platform which I think is very good and such a core feature of the device still loads their legacy apps with the button clearly designated for it.

The apps button is also subject to the same problem. Sometimes it will load the new on demand platform and sometimes the old apps page.

I'll also add that the menu/settings/admin Default Guide selection doesn't seem to make any difference

Hopefully the DishTV guys will pick up this tread soon. They need to do a bit more testing

My long term problem is somewhat different.   Despite umpteen re-boots and s/w updates the T2200 locks up from time to time (it's even impossible to use the on-off button) or loses sound whilst playing off-air.    I think it might be related to going into pre-set recording mode.  If the box is left for 10 mins or so it is sometimes possible to switch it off and although it might have sound when restarted, sometime it does not!  Very frustrating and this has been happening for a year or so!

Does anybody have a 'fix' for the problem?

T2200 doesn't remember my freeview account info.  When I say that it appears to remember for a week or so then I have to put it back in.  I don't use the freeview system on the t2200 unless I am trying to use the projector - ie to watch the new Dr Who on a screen that is 4 metres wide.  Anyway the whole freefiew thing is rather clunky and clumsy and entering in the username and password is tedious from the remote so normally just cast from the computer.   Is anyone  else having difficulty with username info being stored on the t2200 and probably off topic how are others finding the whole new freeview on demand thingy?  My own thoughts are the old individual on demand apps were much easier.

cheers

Shaun

Actually I had my T2200 log me out once before as well.  I didn't think much of it at the time but would have easily been over a week of inactivity as I set it up the day it went live then didn't touch it again for a while.  This is despite ticking the box to keep me logged in and as you say is an epic pain to re-enter using the onscreen keyboard... especially then entering the wrong or typo the password.  Hopefully that gets resolved!

Other than that I think the new on demand platform is actually a big improvement over the individual apps.  It's cleaner and despite the T2200 not exactly being a high performance box I think it actually performs pretty well considering.  My T2200 is connected via ethernet directly to the modem and fibre installed behind the unit so my bottleneck (if there is one) is not the net connection.

One feature I wish the new on demand platform had would be some form of notification or flag which shows against your 'recently viewed' when new episodes are available.  Admittedly this is probably more a Freeview issue rather than Dish TV.  I have been through all the settings and can't find any reference to enabling new episode notifications.  I'll be happy to be proved right or wrong on that.

It's all well and good having whole series available for a couple of years minimum (e.g. ER, Freaks and Geeks) but there are some where due to licensing the broadcaster only makes available for 14 days (e.g. Murphy Brown).  If you don't frequently check each individual series for new episodes or keep a calendar when they're released, they get dropped and you miss them and forces the genuine fans to download them.  It's all well and good encouraging your audience to watch episodes at their leisure but when you don't know they're available and you have a limited time to watch them it makes a total mockery of being "on demand".
