I've had my 3600 for a while now and after a few "teething problems" it's been working fine for about a year now.

Last night I recorded the rugby on Prime.  When I tried to watch it at the start there was no picture and the sound kept “looping” i.e. replayed about three seconds of commentary over and over again.  I fast forwarded about 30 minutes into the recording and it was back to normal.  If I stopped the playback and then restarted it from the beginning, the sound looping was still there.

I've recorded a few programs since then and all of the programs on Prime have this problem at the beginning.  I've also recorded a couple of programs from TV2 and TV3 and they're okay.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Bob.

There is a tech problem with sound sync on Prime at the moment, see Prime Facebook page

Thanks for the reply.

I couldn't actually find it on the Prime Facebook page, just the problem with Prime switching the satellite channel (which doesn't affect me).

However, I formatted the HD and reloaded the firmware (19NZb4) yesterday and recorded programs from One, TV2, TV3 and Prime overnight. The only one that had the problem was the one from Prime. The others were fine.

I've emailed Prime (Sky) asking them when they're going to get it fixed.

Bob.

No need to do anything Prime has fixed it.

Yes, it appears so. (After Sky/Prime support told me the solution was to retune my Magic box - even though I had already done that.)

I had also reset the Magic box to factory settings (even though I assumed I had effectively done that with the HD format and reload the firmware).

Recorded a couple of Prime programs last night and they were fine.

Sometimes I wonder whether these moves by Sky/Prime are designed to discourage people from using Prime so that they will switch to Sky.

After a few days of it working okay (and Prime denying the problem was at their end) it's started again.

I recorded three programs on Saturday, two on Prime and one on TV3.  The TV3 one was fine but both of the Prime ones had the looping problem.

Is anyone else getting this?

Thanks for the reply. What brand of receiver do you have? Satellite or terrestrial.

Same problem every now and then on my Magic TV 3600 but only on channels on the Kordia mux (ie: prime, choice, sommet sports etc). The best work around I've found is if you press the 'Play' button a couple of times after it first loops it comes right.

Thanks for the hint about pressing the Play button a couple of times.  It works for me.

So if the issue seems to originate with the Kordia mux, who do we hassle about it?

I'm having the same very frustrating problem, with both the 3600 and 3700.  Prime only.

Interestingly I don't have this issue with our local TV station here in Dunedin, which is also handled by Kordia.

I've just had a call from someone at Sky TV wanting details of the problem.  She sounded quite concerned that they find a solution.

Does anyone know whether this issue is limited to just the Magic boxes?  For example, are the Panasonic PVRs having the same problem?

For you guys having problems with your Magic boxes, what firmware are you running?  (I'm on 3.19NZb4)

Can't say I've ever experienced the problem on my Panasonic BWT720 or my Hauppage HVR2200.
In Auckland using Waiatarua.
